When I was shopping for these brackets I could not find anywhere that said what size rod was needed. I liked the look so I bought them anyway and measured for myself.They need a dowel that is 7/8" in diameter. Readily available at home centers and hardware stores.Installed easily, nice looking, very sturdy. Very pleased with my purchase. I would buy these again.

The holder is very narrow so a standard pole does not fit and for use in a closet, the size pole that would fit is more expensive and does not hold the weight we needed it too. Had to send item back.

We needed a place to hang longer items like pants and dresses in our laundry room. These self-brackets worked out great. The only thing I would have preferred is if we could put a larger diameter rod. The product is well made. We also bought from the same sell brackets without the hook and put them side by side. We love how they turned out.

I am initially quite pleased with these. Very simple to install and appear incredibly sturdy. I purchased these for the sole purpose that I would be able to hang plants an appropriate distance from the windows.If you are looking for a dowel rod and want it slip into this bracket nicely, you're looking for about 7/8". I purchased 1" dowel rods and they are quite snug - I wanted no risk of movement.I anticipate that they will hold up nicely, but will absolutely update if that changes.

They look nice, you can put a rod, but only a small one, need to find the one that fits. The metal feels sturdy. I hanged it at my front door and it happy how it came out.
