Great fun for backpacking, super light-weight and fun. However!...they started making them hard instead of the original soft version. The hard ones bounce all over the place. Maybe they thought that was an improvement, but none of the folks I play with like the new version as well.

We sent this product back without opening it. For the price, we expected it to be much larger. When it arrived, it looked like a kids toy that you would get from Five Below.

The Minnesota Hikings brought this fun game to all of us bringing fun to the hikers if 2021 hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Hours of fun. You can have a team of eight with two different players on a team. HiThey deserve some props. I know a lot of hikers that ordered because of them. I am one of them. Follow them on YouTube. Who ever looses has to add it to their pack. You can make your own rules such as, you have to hit the rock. So all players must hit the rock to get closest to the white ball. Another example is each player must bounce it off the picnic table. All ideas brought to you from The Minnesota Hikings. If you own this game these are your people. They are carrying it 2,663 miles to the Canadian border.

Like many others, I guess I just assumed that bocce balls were a standard size. These are quite small. They could still work, but if you're a serious bocce player and not someone who does plays bocce while trying to remain upright because you had a PBR too many on Memorial Day, you probably won't love this set. Since I'm a casual player and it's easier to cart around than a full size set, I think I'll keep it. I like the portability and that it won't take up much room in my car.

We have brought this with us on a few adventures and it is a great item to have and entertain the kids (and adults) when we have time to spend. I like the light weight and it only adds some bulk in our backpack. It is worth it seeing how much time the kids can spend with it. I've seen the kids are creative with their use where we have played normal games of bocce, advanced strange undulating terrain bocce, non-bocce where they have had ball races in small streams of water, and so on. Definitely worth it.

This is ping pong balls in a very small bag. Not heavy enough to use on the beach or even in the grass if wind is blowing at all. The balls are also not round.

This set was so cute! I wasn't sure what to expect. They're small balls (hence the portable inside/outside thing) but they're substantial with just enough heft to make them playable on a rug indoors but not so much weight that you feel like you're gonna break something! Great set - can't wait to take camping or on summer vacay.

These really are fun. Yes, you really can play something that resembles Bocce with this. We played for several hours on the beach on a windy day. The balls didn't blow away, although you did have to consider the wind somewhat when throwing. The balls are neither light like ping pong balls, nor super-heavy like real Bocce balls, but somewhere sort of in the middle. So they have just enough weight to work when playing with them, but not so much that the set is at all heavy to carry around. As for the size of the balls, they are somewhat larger than ping pong balls, maybe 1/3 the size of a tennis ball. So not huge but not absolutely tiny either. An adult can easily hold two of them in one hand.Of course, real Bocce is played with much larger, heavily weighted balls and so this game is really not at all the same as real Bocce. You are not rolling these through tall grass, and knocking someone else's ball happens only rarely. So if you are a fussy purist expecting the real game, you might object to this, but we found that the essence of the basic challenge survives the downsizing, and since everybody is equally handicapped by the smaller, lighter balls it can still be just as fun and competitive as real Bocce. This isn't going to replace your real set of bocce balls, but I wasn't about to carry those on a plane. These don't take up much space or weight in your luggage and you can play in the sand, on a mowed lawn, etc. They don't play particularly well on paved surfaces, but as long as you have some grass, dirt or sand, you are fine. The simple, little soft case the balls come in is nice, and the fact that it is mesh on one side means it doesn't collect sand.I don't know about playing inside with these - that seems like an accident waiting to happen. But I guess it could be done inside in some circumstances. These are going to be coming on future trips as everybody who played with them seemed to really enjoy them. They are sort of the perfect, very casual thing to do at the beach, camping, bar-b-que, etc. when, for whatever reason, you can't bring your real set.
