OK lets start off with that at the time of this review, it's a $12 hat that in the description states 1 size (fits all) and measurements. I purchased the "Bright Orange" for use for hunting as i like boonie / bucket hats for that purpose. This one truely is Bright Orange (very Fluorescent) to meet or aid in meeting any F. Orange requirements. It will not keep you warm in winter, however when put over a a face mask or "skull cap / beanie" is excellent in keeping snow & rain off your shoulders neck face or sunshine out of your eyes. I usually put a handwarmer between the facemask and the hat to aid in keeping warm, though doing that with this defeats the purpose due to the netting. no big deal there. However, woodchuck / groundhog hunting in my state requires a solid Fl. Orange hat, and in that capacity this perfect to stay cool and have the head breathe a bit, and also creates plenty of shade due to the large brim (larger than most boonies). It's very lightweight and of no issue to put in just about any pocket or pack. Head band is a bit of a terrycloth material so that'll help to absorb though maybe not wisk away sweat. The netting helps to cool when there is a cross breeze, and allows heat from your "noggin" to escape.Beyond the chin strap, there's a little pull tab in the band to help cinch the hat to the head. That hat isn't waterproof or water resistant (to be expected as it has netting in it) but a quick spray with water repellent found just about anywhere helps as far as wearing and keeping the hat (and head) somewhat dry on drizzly days. Again with the netting you can't expect it to keep you dry.The chin strap is what it is, just sewn on to the edges of the hat and is adjustable. I don't really use it, but is the only way if you wanted to lift up and secure the sides in an upright position.I do plan on purchasing a few (in a different color light grey / white / khaki) for summer everyday use as a sunhat that doesn't look too goofy on ones head. Would make an excellent fishing hat too, or for the occasional hiker. Heck....it's perfect for wearing while playing horseshoes, cutting the grass, having a drink on the deck, etc. etc.

I purchased 3 of these hats. One of them was for my son who wore it on a Mission Trip to Peru over Spring Break. He is 21 years old and selected the Navy Blue hat. He LOVED this hat and wore it daily! I then purchased 2 others - light army green and Roseo, for a trip to Florida. The light army green I purchased for myself, and the Roseo hat I purchased for my 8 year old granddaughter. There is an adjustment cord around the brim of the hat, so we all achieved a PERFECT fit! (Male, Female and Young Child). My granddaughter loved wearing it and the brim is perfect width and kept the sun out of our eyes nicely! The quality of the construction is very good, and they went into our carry-on bag flat, so they took up little to no room. They are lightweight and comfortable, something I was very grateful for! I am not a hat person, however, I like this one so much, I am already excited about wearing it hiking in our Colorado mountains this summer! Don't let the CHEAP price deter you. It's a quality hat! I wanted to mention that others have indicated that the light army green hat is more tan than green. This is NOT true. It is truly a light army green, with the band being more of a tan.

In preparation for a hot and sunny vacation, I purchased this hat to keep the sun off my face. I consider myself to have a pretty large head. This hat fits pretty loose. Luckily, it does have an adjustable strap to keep it on my head. No strong gust of wind will carry this hat away unless I forget to tighten this up. I like the Army Green color I got it in, but I'm not crazy about the brim not having a support to keep it in shape. It's flimsy and I will have to iron it before our trip. It's lightweight and I think it looks okay. I will update this review after I return from vacation.

The elder son got a cabin on a small river and has kayaks. After chasing his dad's straw hat downriver twice in one ride he "suggested" we get something with ties so Dad's hat wouldn't blow off. This looked OK, though I worried about "one size" as that often translates to "fits no one."Turns out "one size" is great. I just measured; the inner circumference is 23.5". That's fairly large, but it has elastic around the back half (in a casing between the sweatband and the crown) and there is a cord lock on it so you can pull the elastic tight and keep it there. The elastic goes through the crown and the lock is on the outside for easy adjustments. The brim is 3" wide and stiff enough to keep it from falling in my eyes. The tag has the international "no washing" symbol on it, and (from 55 years of sewing experience) I'd say that is because a washing machine would wreck the interfacing they have used to stiffen the brim. However, the fabric feels to be one of those fast-drying polyesters, so it will probably shed most dirt. You could probably still wash it by hand if you don't scrunch the brim. The chin strap is long enough to get it on, but not so long that it will get in the way, and it has a slide lock. The sweat band feels to be cotton or at least a 65/35 cotton/poly blend. There are the standard 4 grommets in the crown for air, but also a strip of mesh all the way around.Construction looks durable. Stitch length was set at 3mm, which is correct for this fabric weight and the number of layers. This is not "basted" together. It looks like all the seams in the crown were serged, but they have also been covered with bias tape which is an excellent finishing touch. The crown flattens completely for packing. I would not fold the brim, but it's only 14.5" across, so that should fit in most suitcases.I ordered one for "Dad" and one for me. We haven't put them to the kayaking test yet, but I'm pretty certain that they will pass with flying colors.Aug 12, 2015 addendumWe've been kayaking and the hats were excellent. If you are going to be using them in the summer where it's hot, I recommend the lightest colors.
