Like other have said this bar is not enough for a full jacket dry to waxed. The price is okay but by weight you are better off mixing your own, if you are doing a lot of clothing.I only needed it for touch up since my waxed jacket was starting to stink. I cleaned the jacket with diluted soap and iso. Then dried the jacket. Then this bar of wax was rubbed onto the jacket in one thin layer at a time. A heat gun (low settings) is a must, as you can see the wax liquify and soak into the cotten. A quick touch with my hand I can tell if it is enough wax. If it needed more another layer, if it was too much, I would heat the wax again and use a cotton towel to wick up the panel. I used half the bar to touch up my old waxed Jacket.Smell wise there is an sweet smell, likely from the beeswax. But there is also an old library smell of dust and paper, I don't mind it.

Great product, easy to use. Designed for rugged, heavy-duty applications, so a few smudges on backcountry pants from heavy thick application are no problem.

I purchased the extra large bar for the same price as this 2.25oz bar a few years ago here on Amazon. Anyways, this 2.25oz bar was just enough to treat a men’s medium sized cotton jacket. Do yourself a favor and use a cheap heat gun to melt it in, it will save you lots of time. Watch some videos on how to use apply it. My jacket is now very water resistant and blocks the wind better. A waxed cotton jacket is more durable than synthetic materials. I had the tiniest campfire ember land on my expensive down jacket and it burned a hole straight through it. This doesn’t happen with waxed cotton. Also waxed cotton is way more stylish.

My canvas bag was waterproof again after the treatment. It therefore works perfectly. I treated the bag with a hair dryer immediately after waxing, so the product was well absorbed and no residue remained on the bag.

I bought this to wax my canvas hat for work and this works well but it takes a while for the wax p dry and multiple layers were needed.

I purchased Otter wax to help my canvas boots be water repellent. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot. I found my boots are waterproof now so I can enjoy wearing them frequently without worrying about rain. So easy to use, high quality wax, used for two pairs of boots and still have some left over. It’s not sticky nor extremely greasy like mink oil. Good value making my boots look great.

I used this on a pair of Parkhurst Goodyear Welt waxed suede boots as I got ready for winter. I wanted them to be really waterproof and to be easy to clean when slush and salt got on the leather. The suede was waxed when I received the boots, with some pull up. As I approached winter and there was more pull up i wanted to rewax. I rubbed the wax on and the heated it with a blow dryer to help it seep into the leather. The results were fantastic.Water is beading right off the boot. As an added bonus, there is a bit of a waxy shine that I wasn’t expecting, and I can choose to either buff out scuffs, or to allow them to show the suede color underneath.Highly recommend.

I really like this wax and it gave me the look and protection I wanted, but you need to keep a couple things in mind before ordering. First, ignore the instructions on the package. It pretty much just says rub on and let dry. This will give you crappy results which seems to explain most bad reviews. Do this instead.Using a hairdryer or heat gun heat up a section of the item you are going to wax and heat up the wax a bit until just soft. Then rub it on in long, even, non-overlapping strokes. Then while it's still warm even it out with by rubbing it in with your fingers pretty hard. Reapply heat if it gets cold and sticky. Once the entire item has been coated make another pass with the hairdryer or heat gun to heat up the wax again to set it (get it good and hot). Then put it up on a rack to dry for a couple days (mine took about 4 days). You'll know when it's dry when it is mostly not waxy feeling anymore and any excess wax will turn white (check around buttons and seams for this). Next take a clean shoeshine brush or stiff bristled brush and brush the crap out of it until the fabric feels a little stiff but not waxy at all and all the excess white wax is gone. You may get dark spots where there was a little extra wax but I liked that distressed look which is why I chose this wax.Second issue: if you want an invisible water seal don't use this as it darkens the fabric and does so unevenly. If you want a waxed jean and enjoy being really flammable and or on fire use parrafin wax instead.

I happened into waxed denim from an internet purchase of some Levi's. I knew I liked the appearance of the pictures, they didn't say they were waxed, but after receiving them and researching I realized what I had received.I loved the jeans. I also read that most people recommend not washing them. The pair I got was a bit big, so I did wash them once on gentle, no soap, and still the waxed finished faded a bit in some spots, and some typical wear spots also appeared in the crotch area, above my back pocket where I keep my wallet, and along the outside seam down the outsides of the legs. My research on Youtube started about what I had and how to fix it.There were several options and this is the one I settled on. The bar is far smaller than I expected by eyeballing it, but it lasted much longer than I expected. I touched up the entire jeans, front to back, and could probably do so 5 more times with this small bar. That being said, if I order again I will probably order the larger one.The texture (tack) of the jeans I had were already cured. Adding this made them feel more oily and different-- the beeswax content is apparent by the tack. I froze them first to set, and chose not to do the blow dryer because I don't own one, and because I had no "white".Freezing first didn't get rid of the tack for me. So I decided to throw them in the dryer for about 5 minutes on low. This did a great job of sealing and removing the tack and smoothing it out and make it more like what I received originally from Levis. As some other reviewers stated, I couldn't see waxing an entire denim garment with this product. It seems like "dry" denim would take a tremendous amount of this product. I am interested in some of the other soft cream type products meant for this activity and if I try one I will compare it here. Finally, some people remarked about the smell. I consider this an extremely low fragrance product, and any scent that it does have seem very natural. It has an organic smell, not floral and not spicy, more of a muted saddle soap type smell, or a mild shoe cream smell. Maybe a potato-ish, leather-ish smell. The product contains no animal products, and is a mix of bees wax and plant based oils.
