I've been using the Osee G7 for about 2 weeks with a variety of cameras including the Canon R5 mark ii, Sony A1, Sony ZV-E1, and a RED Komodo X. There's a lot to love about the G7 but there's also a few things you should be aware of. Let's start with the positives.**PRO'S:**1. Beautiful Display - with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits this display is visible in practically any environment. Since the actual panel itself is of higher quality you won't get the washout effect where colors become muted and inaccurate. This is something that cheaper high bright monitors suffer from. Also, off axis visibility is great with minimal color shift. Out of the box, I found the monitor to be very accurate. However, I did have to dial back the sharpness since it appeared over sharpened slightly. That said, it's an incredibly sharp display so even with sharpness turned down to 0 it's very detailed. Also, despite the high brightness capabilities I never had an issue with fan nose or overheating.2. Built Quality - I've used other Osee on camera monitors in the past including the Lil Mon and while the quality was okay I would say there are far from premium. The G7 changes this as the shell is made of aluminum and sturdy hard plastic material that feels very rigid and durable. It's definitely one of the better built monitors and is far better than Atomos monitors especially the Shinobi series.3. Software - Osee has taken a page from SmallHD and brought over a page style interface allowing you to setup numerous amounts of pages with custom settings within each page. This is excellent and allows for a very fast operation. The internal components have also seen a bump versus previous Osee displays allowing for the interface to function smoothly. Another clever feature is the ability to calibrate your display without the need of an external computer. You can simply plug in your color probe straight into the display which is something I haven't seen before.4. Camera Control - camera control is becoming a hot topic in the creator world with the likes of Atomos and Portkeys being the brands on the forefront of everything. Osee decided to also get in on the action with the G7. Support it pretty limited currently and there are a few quirks that I'll talk about in the next section. However, I'd rather have this feature with the promise of things getting better versus not having it at all.5. Value - at $599 the G7 is not cheap by any means. But considering the quality of the display, the software experience, Osee's product support and reputation the only other monitor that comes close to this is from SmallHD which retails for $3,000.**QUIRK'S:**1. Bugs - I've encountered a few bugs and performance issues which is to be expected considering this is a relatively new product with a new interface. These bugs consists of weird artifacts that will flash on the screen when moving the camera quickly. It's only for a brief mili second and doesn't affect the image by any means but it's something to be aware of. Also, the boot up and connection time is pretty lengthy and in consistent. Sometimes I have to disconnect the HDMI or SDI cable and re connect to get a signal.2. Camera Control - I was so excited to see Osee supporting camera control with the G7. But, if I'm being honest I was a bit disappointed initially. The camera support is very limited. The only camera that I own that has full support is the Canon R5 Mark ii. With this camera, you're able to adjust the focus point position, start and stop tracking, adjusts your camera settings such as ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and a few other things. However, despite the G7 supporting the Sony A7 IV it does not fully support the Sony A1 or the ZV-E1. With these specific cameras, I can trigger record and adjust only a handful of settings. Autofocus control is very glitchy and I cannot adjust ISO at all. Coming from a Portkeys monitor with wireless camera control it's hard for me to look at the G7 and be impressed from this specific aspect. But, both the Portkeys BM7 ii DS and LH7P I'm using have inferior displays to the G7 so if you're okay with limited camera control and don't mind waiting for Osee to push up updates to improve the capabilities it's definitely the better monitor overall.3. Physical Buttons - this is subjective but I have grown to appreciate physical buttons on camera monitors. It allows for fast access to your most used assist tools no matter if your hands are dirty or covered. Having everything control through a touch interface feels more modern but is far slower in operation. Also, the press and hold power button drives me crazy. Having a physical switch is much better.**WRAP UP:**All in all the G7 is a fantastic camera monitor that's priced very agressive considering the quality of the high bright display, the fact that it has SDI in and out, it's running a simple modern interface that's great to use, and it supports cable camera control. The quirks that I encountered are relatively small when considering the value. Plus, many of them can be fixed with software updates. If you're in the market for an excellent 7" camera monitor this is definitely one to consider.

I've been using my Osee T7 for five years and it's still my go to monitor.. until this one came out. It's everything I wanted in an upgraded monitor. The image quality is the same which is a huge win, aesthetics have been improved tremendously for the overall look of the monitor (matching the lilmon vibe), the new UI is also a big upgrade. USB-C PD / Camera control is the cherry on top. I really can't recommend this monitor enough and I'm super stoked about the upgrade!

Coming from the G7, this new G7 Pro is a true upgrade! The touchscreen greatly improves the UI and speeds up digging through the menus. The camera control feature is something I’ve been waiting for a long time for a Sony FX3. Having a 7 inch screen makes accurate touch tracking so much easier than on the FX3’s tiny LCD. This is also the only monitor I have found that supports 65 point cube LUT’s, but even with the more commonly used 33’s it does a great job avoiding banding and artifacts by using tetrahedral interpolation. The reduced glare of the screen also helps with visibility and decreasing the annoyance of fingerprints on the touchscreen. I highly recommend this new and improved monitor!
