This replacement fuel tank sending unit fits 82-83 CJ5 and 82-86 CJ7/CJ8 models equipped with 20 gallon steel fuel tanks. It features a lock ring design and a 10-73 ohm impedance range (10 ohms at FULL). For sending unit O-ring, use 17730.01. For lock ring, use 17727.02. Replaces OE 5362090

Per description it should fit an 85 CJ7 20 gallon tank. It didn’t fit, too large to fit through the opening.

I checked to make sure it would fit my 82 cj 7 Jeep, and it said it would fit. When I went to install it, it was too long for my stock 20 gal tank. I had to cut it down to make it fit. Also, the resistance is incorrect for the stock gauges in the Jeep. I had to put a resistor to make it function correctly. Also, the sending unit wire does not fit tightly to the male adaptor of the sending unit. Overall a piece of crap if you ask me.
