Would not recommend this crop for any actual riding. Feels flimsy and almost like a costume piece. Strap is easily breakable and seems like so is the rest of it.

No odor, seems sturdy and high quality and the wrist strap is helpful during high impact activities to avoid it flying across the room on accident. Great for many applications.
