During the dreaded annual inspection, my 2004 Subaru Forester was rejected due to two small leaks in the exhaust- one in the intermediate pipe, and one in the muffler pipe. As Virginia State Inspection rules stipulates, any repair work MUST BE WELDED- patches of any kind are strictly verboten. I know this because I had used a patching compound, took the car back for re-inspection, and it was failed again because of the patches. SO, I ordered this kit.NOTE: You will also need the spring bolt kit, not supplied in this kit:Walker 35412 Hardware Spring Bolt Kithttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019IADHW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Shipping was quick- 3 or 4 days, and it arrived safe and sound in a large cardboard box.The pipes fit perfectly, once I removed the old pipes from the vehicle (boy, was THAT ever a job). You will likely destroy the rusted-on spring bolts (I had to use an angle grinder, but BE CAREFUL- there's not much clearance). The flat flange seal which goes between the intermediate pipe and the muffler pipe fit properly, but the doughnut seal which goes between the cat and the intermediate pipe is the WRONG SIZE, and it WILL NOT FIT. Of course, you don't know this until you get everything off. The outer diameter of the pipe coming out of the catalytic converter is (near as I can tell) 4.8cm. The inner diameter of the doughnut seal is 4.5cm- so you can see the dilemma. So, I had to run to Advance Auto and pick up the proper size seal- the part number from Advance is 31357, and it fits correctly. That will run you $11.99 plus tax.Oh, and while there is one correctly-fitting flat flange seal, and one incorrect doughnut seal (both were in bags, and were taped to the protective cardboard wrapped around the muffler itself), the clamping bolts & nuts which clamp the intermediate pipe and the exhaust pipe together were NOT in the box. Nope. Not there. So, that'll run you a few more dollars at either Ace Hardware or Lowe's (there's an Ace Hardware in my town, so that's where I normally go for odds & ends).SO- bottom line is, the pipes and muffler mated up to the car properly, and there's no issues there. Shipping was quick, and the price was right, which is why I ordered it. But when you factor in the aggravation of having to wait for your wife to leave work two hours early (and not get paid for those two hours) so you can take her car and drive to the auto parts store to pay $12 plus tax for the proper doughnut seal to replace the wrong seal which you'd already paid for in the kit, and previously running to the Ace Hardware store to pick up bolts, nuts and lock washers which should have been included (and so noted in the product description) but weren't, I'm not so sure I actually saved anything by purchasing this over a similar but more expensive kit elsewhere. Not to say a similar experience wouldn't have happened with someone else's kit, but it sure did happen to me, with this kit. Ugh.
