This item was bought as a gift. I did inspect it before giving the gift. The teapot was as pictured and the strainer was the right size. This makes a great gift.

Huge gap on the hinge side. When clasp is closed, the large gap let's most of the tea through. I chose it because it had a bigger bowl area to put more course tea in. Loved the little teapot weight

I chose this one, mostly because of the cute little charm but also because I've purchased items from norpro before and they were often of decent quality.So far it has worked well for me, I often drink chamomile and when looking to buy a tea ball I read that the metal mesh ones were a nightmare to clean because chamomile has these teeny tiny...things (I don't remember what they were called lol) that often get stuck in them. I didn't have that issue at all, in fact it rinsed clean with ease.I haven't used this on finer teas to say if a lot of things escape through the mesh, but the seal between the two halves seemed really good, although there has been times where I swing the latch closed and it only catches the rim of the top half, if you are a bit groggy or aren't really paying attention I could see this causing quite a nice mess.The charm lacked a little in craftsmanship, it's sturdy and all, but the sloppy painting really takes away from how cute it is, I'm going to leave it on there for now but If it breaks or I get tired of looking at its subpar paint job I'm going replace it with an Alice in Wonderland charm I have in my jewelry box
