After buying a couple of "refurbished" cameras that didn't work we were skeptical to try again but this time we are NOT disappointed!!!!! From the sweetest note that came with a gift to the price is pure perfection. The camera works like I just got it new and is definitely my favorite camera. I never thought anything could beat my Olympus E-3! To make things better I can even use my Olympus lenses and there is no way to tell these weren't meant for the Nikon camera. I truly thank God there's still honest companies out here and He led me to them!!!! Thank you for everything and absolutely phenomenal job!

It is a stellar camera and perfect for professional use if you cant or dont want to move to a full frame camera.Having graduated from a measely D3200 to this, I was quite overwhelmed by the level of control it offered. The shooting speeds are very high at 7-FPS for RAW and upto 99 for JPEG (I cant even imagine a situation where Id use that, maybe sports when Im just going burst crazy). The noise levels are considerably lower compared to the D5200 or the D3200 that were available when I bought this. The best part about it are the brilliant 51 point focus system and the full-frame style hardware controls all over the camera that make it a perfect delight to use. My shooting has become truly intuitive and I can use this camera for myriad situations without ever taking my eye off the viewfinder. This truly is a professional/amateur use camera and for hobbysits who have the money to splurge. The build quality is solid. The Commands dials and rings work perfectly. The AF is very nice. AF modes are faster and more intuitive. The level of control you have over your camera functions is fantastic. I just wish it had a dedicated AE lock that I could use for backbutton focus. Another lament is the limited number of options you can dedicate the DoF Review button and the Function button, or tat may just be my ignorance.

I have only had this camera or a week now, but I have to put in a review because it is just that good!Nikon did an excellent job with this camera. I have shot about 500 pictures and different events over the last week and the image clarity and detail is superior to the D3100 and D5100 that I have had in the past. Outside photography is really easy with any camera, so I wanted to do a real comparison to indoor image quality with limited lighting so, I snapped on my 1.8G lens and went inside to shoot an event and I got outstanding results. The depth of color is amazing and the detail in the images were just amazing. Removing the low pass filter helps this camera excel in the low light environment excellent move on Nikon's part. The grain is smaller at identical ISO's compared to the D5100.The camera body is laid out well. They squared things off in comparison to the D5200 thats out now, and changed the LiveView switch over to a button which I like. Everything seems to be just in the right place for my hands. I don't have really large hands so it just works.I did get this camera with the kit lens, since it was immediately available versus the body alone. I must say that I'm impressed with the kit lens. it only goes down to 3.5G at 18mm which isn't bad but if you want to reach out and grab a shot at 105mm your aperture moves up to 5.5 which requires a shutter speed adjustment or ISO boost to get the shot. Fortunately adjustments in manual mode are quick and easy since you have 2 quick adjustment dials, and ISO adjustment is right there at your left finger. I didn't like that the default setting is to see the shot count on the viewfinder versus ISO, but its a quick change in the menu system to make the ISO your default display option.Another awesome feature that was added is the white balance adjustment. Now you can frame up your reference shot, shoot a gray card in that scene, select the gray card in live view and make the WB adjustment right there and save that as one of the presets for the shoot. No more batch editing in Lightroom. Totally awesome!!The only gripe I have on the camera right now, and its not on the camera itself is that Adobe Lightroom hasn't been updated yet to read the RAW files from this camera. I can read them in photoshop but thats a 1 by 1 process and I need to get them into Lightroom so I can do some batch processing. Knowing that shortcoming, I shot RAW+JPEG all week so I could still get them into LR and get the photos out to clients. If you are looking for an excellent camera for DSLR photography and don't want to make the plunge in FX format. This hands down is the best DX format camera on the market PERIOD. Don't look anywhere else.UPDATE: Used the camera to shoot some 1080P video. In manual mode you have full control over the ISO, fStop, and Shutter Speed. Having full control over your exposure for video is awesome. Haven't used a DSLR for video work before, but now I can see why its so popular. You have easier access and control over everything. Its even better than my pro HD camcorder that I own. Can't wait to get outside this spring and see the quality of video with lower ISO's. Had to shoot between 2000-4000 ISO to get good exposure at 4.5g inside with contrasting light and dark areas in the room I was shooting in.

Just recieved the item in the mail today. I ordered it on the 14th when it first came out and got one day shipping. I ordered it early in the morning so I hoped I'd get it Friday at some point. I didn't though. I had to wait the weekend. But oh well, because this camera is awesome. I've ordered multiple lenses with it but those haven't arrived yet. Will update as they arrive. Even with the 18-105mm lens this thing is awesome. The picture clarity is amazing especially for the price.I work mainly in wildlife photography which means I need accurate and fast autofocus for those quick little animals and flying birds, which is why I deccided on this camera, but haven't got to use it for it yet. I've so far only tested it on my kids in the backyard and on random objects in my house. The autofocus is really fast. I used to have the D300 and the autofocus on the d7100, speed wise, is superior. Also the autofocus in low light is pretty good as well.It will take me a little while to get used to the controls but the possibilities with this thing are really exciting. I can't wait to get it out in the woods and see what it can do.As far as video goes, I don't know. I'm sure I will tamper with it but it isn't the reason I bought it.The double SD slots are also awesome. Not only does it give you a ton more memory but you can alter what each card is used for. I have mine set to RAW/JPEG but can always change it to copy/backup or simply double the memory, which now days can give rediculous results. Get two 128GB SD cards and that will give you 256GB in your camera. That's a computer hardrive! I didn't do that though. I got two 32GB cards which is still a ton of memory.I will try to get out to a local lake tomorrow and take some herp and bird pics and post the results.First impressions, I really see a ton of potential in this camera and I am excited to see what it can do. Especially when my other lenses come in. By the way, the other lenses are the 85mm micro and the 55-300mm.
