Purpose of a brake caliper mounting bracket?

Can a caliper mounting bracket go bad?
- The brake caliper pin can slide into a bore in the bracket, the rubber boot can fail and allow water or other outside dirt into the bore, causing corrosion and binding.
What does a loose caliper sound like?
- A loose caliper will move around and make a clicking sound that comes from the wheel. Each brake has a backing plate that if bent inward will rub against the rotor or caliper and create a clicking sound.

Got a rock stuck between our wheel and caliper and bent this bracket. Ordered this one but was able to bend our back flat on a shop press so I didn’t need this one. Looked exactly like oem though and at a fraction of the price
