I ordered 4 and they were all pre-gapped to exactly .028". NGK's website lists a pre-gap of .031". I have received other NGK model plugs with similar discrepancies, so I can only guess they do it purposely but it seems misleading. Also, all the plugs had a little white crust (adhesive?) where the porcelain meets the metal. They're working fine in my 2003 Passat 1.8T AWM engine. I didn't change the gap. I logged the misfire counters (groups 15 & 16) in VCDS and went up and down the highway for half an hour. The highest misfire count for every cylinder was 1, which I'm told is fine.

The OEM plugs for my VW

These spark plugs are oem replacement for my 2003 Audi a4 1.8t. I was having intermittent misfires and thought I was going to have to buy coil packs since the previous owner said he replaced the plugs. He replaced them with Denso double platinum, these NGK laser platinum plugs solved the misfire issues I had and my car idles smoother and has quieter spark noise and feels so much better. Buy the plugs that are oem for your vehicle. These work great, they came with the plastic cover over the ends to protect the spark plug gap since you should not re gap platinum or iridium plugs. Excellent purchase could not be happier.

I purchased four of these spark plugs to replace the OEM plugs on my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta with the 1.8t engine. The only difference i could see between the original spark plugs that were in my car to these is that these don't have the Audi logo on the white part of the plugs. I did have to set the spark plug gap; which, for these plugs is .32.I bought my car used and it currently has 150,000 miles so I don't know the last time the spark plugs were changed. I decided to change them when the engine started to idle a little rough. In addition to changing the plugs, I replaced the gaskets for the valve cover and valve cover spark plug holes. I did so because the cover had a slow leak and occasional would emit a burned oil smell (when the oil would drip on the exhaust). Fel-Pro VS50531R Valve Cover Set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C2CNII/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I cleaned the spark plug coil pack connection since it had some of the oil that was leaking from the leaky gaskets. Before installing the plugs, I added anti-sieze to the threads and di-electric grease to the rubber part that comes in contact with the plugs. At the top portion of the coil pack that seals onto the valve cover, I spread a light coating of "Super Lube Synthetic Grease with Syncolon Multi Purpose Lubricant 3 oz " (also purchased through Amazon).Once installed and everything sealed up, the car started promptly and ran smooth. I still feel an occasional stutter but I'm thinking I may have a coil pack that is beginning to fail. The plugs however, are excellent!I did a lot of research on spark plug options for the 1.8t engine and after all I read, I decided on buying the original equipment manufactured plug (OEM) as those are what the engine was designed to use.OEM plugs at a good price. I would highly recommend! Just make sure to set the gap - do not trust what comes in the box even though the electrodes are protected in the box. (this goes for all plugs and not just this brand)

These are a great plug, that I got lots of miles on, even in what I would consider to be extreme conditions.I bought 6 of these to replace the plugs in my 2001 Audi S4.I had been running a AWE Tuning Stage III tune (K04 Turbos, green top injectors, upgraded MAF housing, and a stage III chip) At the time I had the car out in the desert of southern california, which is just about the worst environment you could imagine for a performance car. 91 octane at best, with 15% ethanol, 100+ degree temps, sand, and no moisture. With my stock intercolers, my intake temps at idle were frequently 65 degrees celsius.Anyways, the plugs persevered through all that, getting me 4 solid years of use before I replaced them, in Ohio, when cold starting resulting in rocky idle. Replacing them cured the rocky idle, but didn't clear up the rough motor when I would first pull away. As such, I've determined that my problem wasn't the plugs so much as the miles on the car (130k or so), and what most likely is an incomplete lookup table in the cold start portion of the chip. My guess would be they depend on the factory ECU numbers, but that fails to account for the different fuel injectors, and as such the car doesn't run correctly until its up to temp.Bottom line - this is a great plug. This is the OEM plug for the 2.7t and 1.8t engines, and the fact that AWE tuning kept these plugs even in their Stage III tune setup (460 hp!) it a testament to their performance and reliability. Buy with confidence!
