I had to replace the original part as the aluminum threads had worn out after about 10+ years or use.But that the new part simply broke apart and the plastic casing shattered into pieces...I ordered now directly from GenieCompany.com (spare part was not in stock there back then).

I liked the fact that we could order the single part, by itself, without having to order the screw drive or part of a rail system, etc., and, secondly, liked the fact that it came right away. Just by the Genie name, you know it is easy to install; versus some of the other openers, you pound them together and good luck getting them apart if it's not together the right way. Had that happen a few times, as the directions were a bit hazy. I think Genie is more bang for the buck, as I got a 1/2 h.p. screw drive double speed system that has been with us, four (4) openers, since approximately 2001. The only problem was my wife may have bumped the door before it went all the way up, thereby breaking the plastic trolley screw drive carriage - I liken that to a fuse; better to have that blow than the motor or the screw drive or there are a lot other worse things. My father was an engineer and he thinks Genie is an excellent product, and certainly can't beat the price. Thanks again for the terrific service and product! Dave & Sherry W.

This is a little different than the part on my old Genie screw drive door opener, but works fine. Unbolting things to get the old one off and see if it was indeed the faulty part, was harder than putting it back together with the new part, once I received it.The old part was nasty and greasy, I used maybe 4-5 pairs of disposable rubber gloves to keep hands clean. From my garage supplies I also used 1 cotter pin, a little lithium grease, and some silicone spray lube on the wheels, springs, coils of the door hardware. Some Simple Green, rags, and paper towels. Re use pull chain from old unit. Spent all of $16 or $17 on this part, so a good money saving diy job.

Easy to install and great price. Took all of 15 minutes and worked perfectly. Would have given it 5 stars but it took a while to get here.
