originally bought a 27.2mm variant, used it on my main mountain bike; wanted to try it out to see if it was a gimmic or useful, definitely noticed it doing it's job and bought another 25.4mm model post for my other bike(both bought in 2018)...build quality seems alright, as others mentioned they both move a bit side to side but understandable as the seat clamp is held onto the post with a pin but both continue to work great 5yrs later....2023, I bought a 3rd seat post(27.2mm), at first glance it appears to use a different seat clamp style, no longer held on by a pin(no more slight wobble), suspension seems to work and otherwise seems about same build quality; branding is a bit larger than on the originals....

The product looks simple and is in the affordable range. Little play. I think it will be just right. I had originally ordered the wrong size and a lady agent apparently managed to correct the situation - Kudos to this CS lady.

It moves from side to side a bit but not enough to affect your ride. It doesn't squeak and it greatly helps when going over bumps and humps. Be sure to measure size of your old seat post coz its diameter is 2.54 cm and you'll need a shim converter to make it snug if your seatpost hole is bigger.

A bit stiff, even at its soften setting (bolt unscrewed until no thread left seen on shaft), wiggles a bit sideways. Still better on the bum than no suspension at all when 100+lb of tire pressure...I did NOT get a discount for my review

very good unit. adjustable, good price, fast shipping, this is my second purchase for another bike, would have 5 stars except for slight sideways movement between top and bottom sections of shock absorber, no real problem and other unit does same movement, would recommend and also would purchase again, well manufactured

Right fit for my bike. The suspension works fine. However the seat moves from side to side and feels loose. This is due too much play in the up/down slider guide.

Great cushioning for bumpy rides, the angle adjustment seems to move on me no matter how much I tighten it. It's workable as long as you place your weight right over the post. Also know that it requires a security (rounded head) Allan key to adjust which is a feature I do like.

post works well, you have a wide range that it can be adjusted, hard or soft, i'm 175 lbs and I tighten it about half way, though it swilves very slightly from side to side about 1/6 inch, can't notice it when riding the bike

UPDATE: In my earlier review, which I cannot find, I mentioned how I used this seat on an angle and notreally being petite, that some how caused the shock to freeze up. Then later the bolt holding the shock post (see below) fell out allowing me to be able to simply pull the seat off with the shock post still attached to it.I mentioned below cheap plastic parts (the plastic stop was cracked) and I mentioned the thinnessof the metal. It is possible that the post bend slightly form not sit on it in a straight up and down position. This resulted in the plastic acting a brake prevent the shock absorption/ up and down motion. So the cheap thinness of the aluminum walls may have actually been the cause of the failure of this item. The seat post may have bent and some how the plastic stop cracked as well. Also, there is not elastomer. It is just a big thick piece of very hard plastic that you tighten the bolt on to compress the spring.Maybe this is not meant for heavier people3/12/2013 UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW.very busy person so did not have time to buy replacement for this seat. I was riding it although the bolt that held the insert/stop that attached to the shock post to the seat post was not actually attached , (could just pull it out by the seat) .Well I saw a little nut floating around in the main post through the screw holeso I decided to take it apart to see if I could fix it and save some money. What I discovered is that a vital part is very cheaply manufactured. Just one piece that should have been steel or aluminum was plastic (and cheap thin plastic- at that). This was the part that screwed into the shock post which inserts inside the main post, that sits on the spring. When I took it apart, I noticed that not only did the bolt com loose but alss that this plastic part that the bolt screwed into was cracked. I took it all part to put the screw back in. When I tried to slide the assembled part (shock post & plastic stop) into the main seat posts(the collar unscrews allowing this, ) the aluminum cracked at the threads and part way down the post. Other than that this import is seems well made. There is a little elastomer inside near the adjusting screw at the bottom as well as a long spring on top of that (wrapped in plastic packed in grease I assume). This very easily could have been a quality item but they useda second-rate material in an important structural portion of this device- Perhaps so you have to buy another when it breaks out of warranty ?So I give this no stars because it has been a big inconvenience, disappointment and a pain- costing memoney and time,Overall, this seem like a waste of natural resources- to cheapen up an otherwise good product, although perhaps the aluminum might have been of a slighter heavier gauge (however if the part was good, that may not have been in issue at that early juncture I time, if at all.

I bought this to replace a similar seat post that came with my bike, but had deteriorated from years of use. I was a little hesitant to buy this one because of some of the bad reviews. But at this price, with free returns, I thought it was worth a shot. And I am satisfied with the seat post for my purposes, but it is not perfect. Let me address some of the complaints others have written about, and give you my opinion about them.1. Some have said that the quality of this post is very cheap. I disagree. The materials and construction are very respectable, and a bargain at the price I paid.2. One poster mentioned that the post wouldn't fit in his frame despite having ordered the correct size. This was not my experience at all. I found that the size was very precise, and fit my frame perfectly.3. Several reviewers have mentioned a lateral wobble. This is true in my case. More of a side-to-side rotation actually. But it is so minimal that it doesn't bother me at all. I think this may be a common issue with seat posts of this kind, as my old post also did this to some extent.4. Some had issues with the function of the actual suspension. In my case I adjusted it to the softest setting, and found it to be just about right. I weigh about 160lbs, so if you weigh less, you may find that it is too stiff to offer useful shock absorption. Additionally, I found that if I move my seat back as far as it will go in the clamp, this tends to hamper proper suspension function, causing it to stick a little. I disassembled the mechanism, and sprayed a generous amount of white lithium grease in there. This helped a good bit, but didn't eliminate the problem completely when the seat was way back in the clamp. As long as the seat is close to center in the clamp, it works quite well. One other note: I ordered the version of this seat post with the built in clamp because I thought it would be easier to adjust. This turned out to be only partially true. The seat clam is controlled by one Allen head machine screw, which requires only one tool to adjust it, as opposed to two wrenches for the more conventional separate seat clamp. However, due to the position of the machine screw, it is difficult to get at with a regular Allen wrench. You need an Allen wrench with a ball head, so that you can use it at an angle, or an Allen wrench bit for a socket wrench. It is doable with a regular Allen wrench, but it's slow going, and a bit of a pain. So if you have the right tools, it's easier to adjust. Otherwise, not so much.If I had it to do over again, I would still buy this seat post. While it's not perfect, I don't think it's any worse than similar posts costing a lot more. For a seat post of this kind, this is a best buy. You could spend a lot more to get one that's probably not any better. And if you really need something better, you'll probably have to spend a lot more money.

I just love this product. I am a bicycle rider returning to the sport after having not ridden since childhood. Oh my, my previous bike seat was a pain in my rear. After several attempts to get "used to it", my husband suggested a new tactic. This suspension seat post was my engineer spouse's suggestion. I wanted a softer bike seat so we compromised and got both! What a change! This is easy to install! Even with installing the new seat at the same time, it only took my husband about 10 minutes to have me up and riding. My very first outing was about triple in distance compared to my longest rides with my old seat. I would recommend this seat post and if it does not solve your fanny's problems, then get a new seat. But, if you want to save on shipping and don't care which product actually solves the problem, get both and start enjoying bicycle riding once again. Also, the price is great.
