Package actually labelled motorcraft. Still made overseas but hopefully truely to ford specs. Fit perfect and matched what was removed from early e40d.

The Motocraft FT113 Automatic Transmission Filter Kit is not a kit at all. It only comes with the filter. If you plan to drop the pan and perform a transmission filter change, you will need to also order a gasket separately. For the price, it seems there are alternatives that include the gasket and are actual kits as opposed to just a filter in a box. Very misleading product description.

There are apparently two different filters for the 4R100 transmission. One has a long dip tube and the other has a short dip tube. (Ask me how I know.) The FT113 appears to be the short one and the FT114 appears to be the long one. You'll have to get on google images to compare your pan to the short and long versions to make sure you get the right one. O'Reilly's only seems to sell one size. Autozone has both in its Duralast brand. I would have preferred the Motorcraft part, but it wasn't in the cards. You can't put the long tube filter on a short pan because you cannot get the pan to bolt on, but I imagine you could put the short tube filter on the long pan with no problem. This, of course, would be bad because you wouldn't be sucking up fluid from the bottom of the pan and if you were low on fluid, it would be a problem.I also do not know why the filter is sold as a "kit" if it does not contain the gasket. The OEM gasket, however, is supposed to be reusable and this fact was marked on my pan. The gasket I got with my Duralast filter was just a cut piece of neoprene and was nowhere as nice as the OEM gasket which was a metal and rubber affair with two sealing surfaces.
