My husband was SO thrilled to get this. He has been playing with casting metal. He's been casting with bismuth, zinc and lead-free pewter (which has a lot of zinc, bismuth and some other things in it - it's an alloy). He uses all of it and he has an electric hot plate that he heats the metal up with. This seems to work. He said that the graphite can be delicate when trying to extract the metal out from it, and that the removal sprays don't really work since the metals are so hot that it basically fuses in with the spray.The tongs, bowls and mold are all super useful and I think the kit is pretty inexpensive and a great value.
