i bought this from this seller the shiping stunk then when i finally got the wedge i went to split wood and i still have yet to split a log with it DONT BUY IT or it will sit on your shelf geting you very mad that you wasted the money

The title is misleading. It gives the impression the wedge is bigger than other typical "star", or "grenade" style ones. It is not. Its about the same size, about 3 X 3 inches at the top, as any other of this type.If the title isn't misleading enough, the dimensions given are totally false. They are shown as: 6.5 X 16 X 4 inches.Actual dimensions: top striking surface: approx 2.91 X 3.12 inches. Length: about 7 inches (6.96")The wedge itself is nice enough. Been splitting wood a long time and have several of this type. They work well for several reasons. The sharp point is easy to start into the wood. The width about 3 inches at the top, is wider than most of the more common, conventional flat style, which typically run 2 inches or less. This gives more splitting power. The "star" shape tends to stay straight as it goes into the wood, whereas the flat style can easily tip to one side, making it more difficult to hit. A conventional wedge can even get to the point where it is so cocked that one can't drive it in any longer and you have to stop and bang it straight again ... a waste of time.Another good, different from conventional, wedge is . The added "little wedges" at the top provide that extra splitting power. Plus its an Estwing, a good name in tools, and made in the USA.
