These are very well made. Switching the right one from index to friction is unclear but I made it happen somehow. I am using them on a bike with an old 9 speed Shimano XT derailleur, 10 speed chain and 10 speed Shimano cog set. I like them and recommend them. I have been riding around with them for over a week and am pleased. No problems. They were delivered by mail in a timely manner. They came with high quality shift cables.Happy customer.

Set I purchased through this same vendor’s site arrived without the instructions and so overtightened that it was just about impossible to turn either lever. Fortunately a quick adjustment toward the “-“ with a 6 mm Allen key solved that problem. To convert to friction mode the flange must be loosened further, until the ball bearings underneath are exposed. Next step is to rotate the indicator nub from the default setting of 9 about a quarter inch over to F as indicated by the red dot on top (see pic) then tighten back up to the desired degree of resistance.Although designed for flat bars, installed the right hand shifter pretty successfully on my recumbent bike’s tweeners. Friction mode solved the problem of my rear decade old Shimano Deore XT derailleur always mis-shifting on SRAM or Sun cassettes under index systems; now it’s so smooth I can hardly hear or feel the chain switching cogs.Friction-only left hand microSHIFT lever feels like it has even smoother action but I didn’t bother installing that one for now because the SRAM Rocket triple I already had there still performs flawlessly and I do find its indexing advantageous. Through am a little tempted because the black anodized micros look so slick and also solve the problem of me occasionally grazing my knees and thighs against the SRAM’s inboard levers. Another advantage the microSHIFT has over SRAM is the ease of replacing the cable, the retaining hole is exposed on both sides making the operation a cinch. OTOH it is absolutely impossible to feed an existing cable out of a SRAM trigger shifter; there is part of a spring blocking the exit hole so the entire unit must be taken apart for access, at which time all the internals pop out and it will never work correctly again. So once the front derailleur cable on my Rocket wears out I’ll most definitely be replacing it with the microSHIFT triple!

I put these on my daily commuter (with Campagnolo Centaur deraileurs) because I moved to a flat handlebar over drops. I have both in the "continuous" mode, so there is no indexing. Overall, I'm happy with it. Easy install, easy adjustment / switching over to the index from the continuous mode. I do find that my chain slips more, and I can quickly adjust for it by shifting a little further, but I'm assuming I'll get over the learning curve soon enough and get better at it. I moved the shifters more towards the center of the handlebars because the shift lever on the rear (right) reaches far into the area with my handlebar grips.

Bought some Jones H-Bars and my shifter pods didn't really work well with them. After some research and asking around I went with these. Love them! Small, shift cleanly, and work very well with the new handlebars. I did not install them myself, but paid my LBS to do what they do best.

Works great with Shimano cassettes. Very light and minimalist. They shift. The front shifter has a LOT of range, too much really. On my double I use about 25% of the range, the rest is just cable slack.
