I am a professional certified welder. Over the decades I have used all the grinders from most tool brands—DeWalt, Makita, Fein, Hilti, Milwaukee etc but from my experience, the Made In Germany Metabo grinders perform the best and give the longest service life. Metabo has also given me excellent tool service when I’ve needed work done on my grinders. Try one, you’ll like it.

We thought it would come with a box but that was okay. It is being shipped to a Costa Rican wood carver that could not afford one due to cost and shipping. Merry Christmas to him and his lovely family.

Excellent quality with lots of power. Just don't jam a burr because it will snap the shank.

I can't speak to longevity, but out of the box it works great and doesn't get too hot. The build and materials feel top notch. For me variable speed was a must have on my list. I also like the locking button so using the collet only requires one tool. Made in Germany is a bonus.

Outstanding product, with variable speed and power to back it, It gives you the confidence to handle any project. I personally use the Metabo for carving museum grade opal that is sent all over the world, That is huge trust that I have given Amazon and the Metabo Company. Buy one for your self and feel the Percision of German engineering .

Soooo smooth and balanced. The variable speed is great for adjusting to different materials and cutting bits eliminating chatter. The motor maintains set speed even when I push in hard and the soft start is a great feature.

German made, so switches and cord and strain relief are all top notch, and there is an obvious lack of tear stains from slave labour. Even better, when you open the package, it smells like a new tool, not toxic waste, like everything that comes from China. The motor and electronic controls feel smooth. The Tool is very powerful. Use both hands and brace yourself. It is capable of detail work, if you pay attention to the direction of cut.I have been using it to clean big, fat, ugly, flux core welds, so it's been getting a work out for several weeks, running up to 20 minutes at a time. It has never bogged, only slightly dipped in rpms, and only at lower speed settings whilst bearing down into a climb cut into steel.I've only been using tungsten carbide bits, and did have a bit of a loosening problem with the collet at first, but lately it hasn't been a problem (whether the collet needed to break in, or I've just been tightening the living crap out of it is up for debate).I have found flex in the body, hence the lower rating. The flex is between the head and the butt of the casing along the seam that runs sagittally around the grip. It doesn't engender confidence in the tool, but it's not a deal breaker either. It's just sad the germans couldn't figure a better place for a seam, or a stronger connection between the body sections.Over all, I'm left wondering if I should have gone for the Makita, even though I have a German tool fetish.

Smooth, efficient tool. Solid collet wrench included. The rubber grip is nice, though very tight and mine didn't come all the way on. I must have spent a half hour massaging it towards its proper position, while lazing around. Lots of air circulates through the unit in use, but it's still relatively quiet. Thick and relatively short cord.
