Your cart is empty. The Meinl Direct Drive Cajon Pedal gives you seamless playability. With the curved bar positioned at a 45 degree angle, your foot is comfortably placed in front of you for natural ease of use. The bar pivots around the post in the middle for added stability while the spring tension makes it react like a bass drum pedal. Equipped with cradle-like mount, the Direct Drive Cajon Pedal secures to any common Cajon.

This unit has several major design flaws. (Does not sit on the ground when clamped; clamp is essentially one point of contact, so the pedal runs away, rotating around it, plus other things...)It seems to be, however, the only toe-kick pedal out there at its price point. (For that, I rated it a 4 instead of a 3.) My husband secured it to a platform to hook on to the feet of the drum. The photos show his prototype -- perfect!

the action on this pedal works "forwards" i.e. you don't have to develop some new heel technique, trap set drummers can adjust right away. Only downside is that it takes over a larger area than some other cajon pedals. But that is the price you pay for having your foot where you want it to be, IMO. The soft beater won't damage your cajon.

The unit really doesn’t fit together well. The pedal assembly doesn’t clamp securely enough to the piece that goes under the Cajon. There is a lip poorly welded to a steel bar that a clamp tightens down on but it wants to wiggle loose and move. Also the lip broke off of my unit after just a couple of months. It was poorly welded and misaligned. I had a friend weld it back securely. There has to be a better design available somewhere. I’m not impressed with this engineering.

Super fun to play, but can feel a little loose at times. I had the bottom mount break off, but with one email Meinl sent be a new replacement part that was way sturdier. Great customer service!

I was dubious about having a bar rather than a foot pedal for my cajon drum but this thing made me a believer in under a minute. The bar falls easily to hand (or should I say foot) and the mechanics are simple. Much better for set-up and tear down/moving than a cable-operated pedal that comes in two pieces.I disassembled it and added nylon washers at the points where the mechanism has to pivot so I think it will hold up fine.

The stock assembly has it hitting the cajon when you lift up the pedal. I tried to find a way to make it strike when you press the pedal and could sorta make it work. There is a bar u could flip and probably make it work better. But the leverage points on this will clearly break quickly.Ultimately just a really bad design and will be returning.

I didnt have the same problems as everyone else, the pedal held up just fine so far but on the base that attaches to the cajon, the part that the pedal clips to actually broke clean off. With only moderate use in practice/writing sessions. I mean, there doesnt seem to be much better available for cajon pedals but its frustrating regardless.

I bought the Direct Drive Pedal to go with the Meinl Percussion JC50LBNT Birch Wood Compact Jam Cajon that I bought, which measures 10.2 x 10.2 x 15 inches. The back clamp on the pedal won't quite reach the back of the Cajon to hold it in place. The screw needs to be a 1/4" longer to accommodate it (See photo). Also, I had to turn the beater upside down to hit the bottom of the Cajon as it was too tall even at it's lowest and hitting the top of the Cajon(see Photo). I may end up returning it or possibly modifying it by putting a thicker rubber piece on the clap end to be able to tighten it up. Maybe Meinl has a longer lug clamp for the back, I'll have to check. It's a bummer because I really like the pedal.**EDIT** Also, the L bracket that supports the arm doesn't have any support at the 90 degrees of the L which makes the pedal wobble a little bit. Needs to have a small rubber foot under it or something to stabilize it.**EDIT 2 12/16/2017** The brass screw head popped off that tightens the Pedal assembly to the Cajon clamp.**EDIT 3 12/14/2017** I am updating my review. The vendor contacted me and had MEINL send me out a replacement brass screw fo tighten the pedal assembly to the cajon clamp. Once I installed it and made some adjustments, it works good. Aside from the few adjustments I had to make (added a circular foam wedge so the cajon could be tightened into the cajon pedal, turning the beater upside down, and putting a small foam brace under the L bracket that holds the foot bar to the pedal), I like it.
