About this item

  • EXTRA ZING FOR YOUR KIT: this mini-size tambourine is the perfect way to add "ching" to your hihat foot patterns; you can play any note rate with your foot (quarters, eights, sixteenths), and the jingles respond right on the beat
  • WHY IT MATTERS: it brightens up your grooves with different tonal accents, and you don't have to change anything about how you play or re-position your kit; just attach to your hihat pull rod
  • DRIVING THE SOUND: stainless steel jingles respond with a medium-bright tone and controllable volume that supports the mix in acoustic settings and under mics in plugged-in settings
  • OF NOTE: the universal mount fits any hihat stand pull rod and is quick to add or remove; simply tighten the thumb screw when you have the tambourine in position
  • ONE BIG THING: the Meinl Professional Series Hihat Tambourine can be used for hihat foot accents but is also playable with drumsticks; tap the coated top frame with your drumstick for more intricate patterns
  • BY THE NUMBERS: 5" diameter steel frame, 6 jingle pairs, 1 row
  • THE TAKEAWAY: it adds a nice tambourine "ching" to your hihat foot stomps with a minimal attachment that goes on in seconds
  • THE BIG PICTURE: Meinl is a family-owned musical instrument manufacturer and brand established 1951 in Germany; our expert German designers have deep relationships with our builders to ensure you're delivered the absolute finest quality

Get a tambourine sound with your hihat foot using the Meinl Hihat Tambourine. This handy and compact tambourine easily mounts to any hihat stand pull rod to deliver a bright jingle accent whenever you open and close your hihats with your foot. A quick access wing nut allows for fast setup, adjustment, or removal, and it's designed to create a super strong grip on your hihat stand pull rod that stays in place even with heavy playing. Six pairs of stainless steel jingles in a single row configuration respond with a medium-bright tone and volume that can support or cut through your mix—stainless steel leans toward the bright side (less dry) along with medium-range volume. The light, yet solid and durable steel frame measures 5" across and gives you a seamless touch as you play without a heavy lagging feel. For more playing options, you can strike the rubber coated top ring with a drumstick. This hihat tambourine is a great accent piece for drummers playing intimate acoustic settings, live rock shows, house of worship music, jazz gigs or recording sessions. When you don't need tambourine throughout the whole song, it will remain quiet as you play on your hihat cymbals without foot accents. Designed in Germany, Meinl is a family-owned musical instrument manufacturing business that was established in Germany in 1951. Our expert German designers have deep relationships with our builders to ensure you're delivered the absolute finest quality.

Easy to install, makes a great sound, and durable. Since I got this I’ve been shocked at how many songs I play have at least some of this in them, and the sound of this instrument is exactly what I’m looking for.

Most well made hi hat tambourine I've experienced to date. Doesn't fall off the rod and none of the jingles have broken off.

I went through a few different type of tambourines that attach to the hi-hat. This is the one. I can hit the hi-hat without any bleed of the tambourine. And then when I open the hat and go for that chick-chick sound on quarters or eighths, these tambourines add a well-balanced addition to the hi-hat sound. The metal rim coated in rubber-like plastic makes for a nice surface to hit for those tambourine accents should I want that sound as well.

Problem is, as noted by another customer, it will not make any jingle noise from the extra heavy jingles unless you hit it really hard or press the pedal ditto. I have also the lighter jingle version and that one is the opposite of this in this regard: jingles with only a light touch.

Just about everything in Meinl's Professional Series product line is going to meet the needs of the working musician, and this little gem is no exception. It is well built, compact (so out of the way), and functions exactly as it is meant to. Buying it with Amazon Prime FREE shipping made it a really good deal. 5-stars.

Initially quite impressed, though a little quiet on hi hat press. The big let down was one of the pillars for the strike ring snapping after just 7 months of infrequent use, and I'm not a big hitter. Without the home made fix I did on it it would have been headed for the trash. Disappointed as have found Meinl gear durable and hard wearing previously. Maybe it was just a rogue weld but unwilling to test that by buying another....

Not very loud. You have to really slam the pedal to get the desired sound
