I have previously used a standard small pointing trowel never a device like this. It is well tempered and it makes the job so much easier. I would recommend buying a 1/4 inch as well as a 3/8 inch model as some of the courses can be a bit to thin for the 3/8 inch model. Also, if it is an old wall, use proper lime sand cement, not the Portland rubbish. It is lovely stuff to apply.

I had one of these for years. It was my favorite tuck pointer, I used it for absolutely everything. Even fished it out of the bottom of a column with fishing line and a stupid magnet one time. Then one day while trying to remove cardboard from against a wall it snapped ðĐð I had been looking for the exact one to replace it ever since and finally found it!

I have a bunch of pointing trowels of all grades and make. I'm happy to pay a bit more for marshalltown, just to have fewer blisters and less arthritis.

I purchased this tool for doing small repairs on my home's brick siding. Not really too much to say about this -- it works well and is comfortable to hold. It seems well constructed, but only time will tell. It felt a little pricy to me, but since I am not a professional mason, I'm sure it will last me a lifetime. I had trouble finding tools like this at the big box stores, so I was very glad to see it carried on Amazon.

I got this little tool due to an external wall in the garden in need of some overdue repointing. It did the job but I found it a little small therefore taking me twice as long as I wanted to spend on it... A cheap plastic version would have done a similar job at half the price. On the hole a good sturdy piece of equipment doing exactly what it should do just a bit pricey. Check what thickness of mortar your repointing before you decide on purchasing. I did but still found it to small.
