These shackles are lightweight. I weighed these and compared the weight to standard 1/4" screw shackles. They are 2/3 the weight of the standard 1/4" shackles available at most hardware/big box stores. The actual screw is NOT OVER SIZED as claimed, rather they are the same weight and size as those on standard shackles, with the bow and shoulders being much thinner. But, for the money, they are a good deal if they are heavy enough for your application.

Granted i am not using them for their intended use. But they can handle the force created by 15 galvanized cords spinning on a small tire at 30 mph with added weight of 250 pounds with ease. Not a blemish on them. Next i will increase speed to 40 mph.

I use them with short ¼ chains to tie corral panels,gates, and posts together for loading cattle.They are perfect for their intended use.Be mindful of the weight rating.

open the package and after about 30 seconds they went straight to the trash can. all 5 were different shaped. the pin threads where very thin and not bored straight. i only needed two of them and could not find two that i would use out of five. They are made in China and some of the worst machining i have ever seen. Do Not Buy.
