There are a variety of manufacturers making lavalier microphones in a very similar form factor now, with circular magnetic mics nested in a clamshell charger case. Most of them are terrible. A few of them are great. I'm happy to report that Maono's Wave T5 mic falls into the "great" category.Just to let you know where I'm coming from, I've own several of the that are so beloved by YouTube influencers, and are generally considered "professional. " In general I really like DJI's mics, though I find the rectangular shape of their mics a bit clunky. DJI mics have fantastic quality and are very adaptable, but this flexibility comes at the cost of a lot of complexity in the settings and menus. It's nice to finally find a viable alternative to DJI's expensive mics for quick and high-quality on-the-go recording using a smartphone. You simply attach one or two of Maono's discreet circular mics using the magnetic attachments, turn them on, and plug the receiver into your smartphone. When the LEDs on the mic and receiver glow solid blue, you're good to go. Press the power button again on the mics to enable noise cancellation; the LED will change from blue to green. That's it. It "just works."Sound quality is wonderfully clear and distinct. Enabling noise cancellation suppresses ambient sounds, and the system works quite well. The range is sufficient for any of my typical needs.THINGS I LIKED*The process of setup is simple and intuitive. Maono's system of colored LEDs makes it very clear what state the system is in, even from a distance. If you see red, you're not recording. If you see green or blue, you are. No more missed takes because the mic wasn't actually working* The receiver fit into my phone with an affirmative and reassuring "click" , even with a chunky case in place. I tested Maono's microphone with a Samsung S22 Ultra and a Vivo X200. LEDs on the receiver confirmed a successful connection* The circular shape of the mics is aesthetically pleasing and discreet. It comes with a lanyard you can optionally use to hang the mic around your neck versus clipping it magnetically to your clothes.* The receiver and two mics with magnetic attachment fit into a very small clamshell charging case. This base package is sufficient featurewise for 95% of recording jobs, and is much smaller than other lavalier mics.* Maono's mics are an excellent value. They are priced 1/3rd to 1/4th the cost of DJI's mic products, and the results are competitive.OTHER CONSIDERATIONS* If you are in need of extremely configurable recordings, attachment to a digital mirrorless camera, or highly unusual/pro-level connectivity, this is not the mic you want. The emphasis here is on high quality recording on a smartphone mixed with dead-simple setup, at the cost of some flexibility. Look to DJI's stuff if you have exotic needs. For 95% of my uses, Maono's mics will suffice.* Be careful that you buy the right mic from the right manufacturer. It is a little confusing. There are other low cost lavalier mics that begin with the letter "M" and that look almost identical, with a similar clamshell charging case. My experience is some of these competitor products yield terrible results - - have a look at some of my other reviews for details.

I have truly enjoyed using this wireless lavalier mic. Sound quality is excellent, the app allows you to customize voice tone optimally, and it comes with two mic that are rechargeable via the case allowing use for extended periods. This is a fantastic product!

I'm really happy with the Maono Wave T5 so far. I already recorded some videos on both my iPhone as well as my actual camera and I'm really impressed by the quality. I was on the fence between the Wave T5 and the wireless mic that Hollyland makes, but after watching some reviews, I decided that I preferred the Wave T5. The range that the mics get from the receivers is great and I am also really loving the audio quality. I also like how the mics are so discrete. They are almost unnoticeable if you are wearing them on top of some dark colored clothing.
