I looked at this mantle for the better part of six months while I shopped around. I considered purchasing off of mantels direct, but when I found it on Amazon, I decided to give it a shot. It arrived in perfect condition, exactly as pictured and was of great quality. I have since had it installed and it has completed my room. It’s beautiful.

Mantel is poor quality construction, with wood filler applied to cover up obvious wood cracks in mantel and substantial wood loss from manufacturing process. Condition will lead to product failure. I have contacted Amazon to request they pick up mantel at my home or comp me for charges. If they will not, I’ll have my credit card company challenge payment. Condition of wood is substandard. Do NOT purchase as unfinished for staining. Wood is not properly matched with many large knots. Especially alarming is top finish of mantel with very poor matching of woods. I’m convinced that Vendor offered on Amazon, as rejected by their brick and mortal retail customers. Unfinished should SOLELY be purchased for painting that will ‘cover up’ imperfections.ADDENDUM. The seller reversed charges after my complaints and offered an apology. He did allow me to keep the mantel, but it was of no use to me and given to charity. I will pay more in future for unfinished stainable wood to get product desired.

One of the things that should be list on this unfinished mantel, is that the item is roughly finished. It will need sanding and wood filler to mange multiple small holes/dents in the pine (softer wood). A sand-able wood filler should be provided. For me personally, about 15 defects. If you use a light stain, the small defectives(puttied holes/dents), will be visible. The dark the finish the better. The defectives were not in the pine itself, rather looked to be from a machine or vice during assembly Tiny holes and small triangles? It is very structurally sound and assembled well. I will try and add before and after photos.

The color is exactly what the picture showed. Not very heavy so it should not be hard to hang above the fireplace. Real wood, with little imperfections that make it perfectly unique!! We are building a house and it looks nice with our hardwood flooring.

This is a really nice mantle. Beautiful. Really solid piece. Install was easy. I had been a bit concerned about the wooden bracket that it hangs from. Compared to other popular brands that have a metal bracket, in my mind, I was thinking a wooden one would be less sturdy (and I have worked in the wood industry for 20+ years so I am very pro wood and familiar with it) but it has proven just fine. I would definitely recommend this mantle.
