Replaced OEM caliper on a Honda CB400F1, 1976 year model. Old caliper was stuck. I had no issues installing the replacement caliper. The OEM brake hose fit perfectly. No problem bleeding the brakes. The pads appear to be good quality and stop the bike just fine.Note: The Clymer service manual says to remove the front wheel to replace the caliper. That's not true. Just takes getting the spokes lined up to get the caliper out and back in.

The fit and finish of this caliper are perfect and it functions fine. My only nit is that the piston is not solid, like the original, but is a more conventional hollow cup.

Caliper mounting bolts stretched at about 30 ft. lbs. of torque during installation. This application requires bolts torqued to 60 ft. lbs. torque. Luckily I recognized what was going on and backed these bolts out before they broke. If they broke during install or while in service could injure you or damage bike. Also, cotter pin to hold brake pad into backing plate was way too big for this application.

Much easier to replace the caliper than trying to free up the old one. Only catch was the cotter pin supplied was a little big. Everything else works perfectly.

the flange fitting was not machined properly therefore could not stop from leaking. Throw away

My old caliper was seized, and rather than spend hours trying to extract the piston, I sprung for this kit. It went on pretty easily, and functions well enough. The only issue is that I had to tighten the fitting on the old hard line VERY tightly to get it to seal. It is probably due to corrosion on the old line, or maybe the machining on the caliper. But in the end, it worked.

The casting quality on the caliper itself was pretty bad and I decided against putting it on my bike just because of the numerous visible flaws. That said Iโm sure it would work fine in a pinch. It also had a ton of paint drips and overspray that had to be sanded off before the pads would even fit in the caliper which was annoying but not the end of the world.I ended up cleaning up my original caliper and using the piston, O ring, bleed screw, and brake pads from this kit to rebuild mine and all those parts were good quality and have worked great so far.All in all 6/10, itโs about what you would expect for the price and Iโm sure is perfectly functional but very much lacking on the quality of imagine you could get from a slightly more expensive kit.
