For anyone experiencing a shortened Alternator lifespan, or even the buyers who received an Alternator that was DOA the day you opened the box…..The MAIN reason “new” Alternators or Factory Alternators are so expensive, is because I.e. ACDelco is or was a GM affiliated company a producer of electronics, who also does their own freight to Dealerships…Point being, is Electronics are FRAGILE, which MOST people replacing their own Alternators would most likely know… For those relatively new at this, looking to save $$ by installing yourself… Just know, these companies overseas rebuild an Alternator, test it to verify functionality, which no one has reason to doubt, but THATS as far as the rebuilders concern travels…. Once ANY electronics are packaged, thrown inside a thick envelope, plastic bubble bag, or even tossed in a cardboard box with ZERO padding, or protection… The courier has NO IDEA what’s inside rattling around inside the box, and chances are, they don’t much care, because for the sake of common sense, the SHIPPER should hold the responsibility of FULLY Protecting their sale, at ANY COST! Bubble wrap and news paper ONCE is cheap, or whatever, but having to constantly ship hastily packaged and barely protected electronics causes damage, time, and most of all PATIENCE!When I order ANY electronics, I ALWAYS check the box that “this is a gift”, and for some reason, that seems to help trigger a wave of compassion and common sense, where the items are protected and packaged on a scale RARELY seen…..Again, because an Alternator is received DOA right out of the box, you can BET with confidence that it did NOT leave the rebuilders facility that way…. Rebuilders don’t make money by shipping people broken or defective parts, nor do they make money having to rebuild the same item over and over again…. In addition, the rebuilders also have to cover shipping costs multiple times over… Granted, Lucas electronics had it pretty rough in the 50’s - 70’s having been branded with terrible quality ignition electronics in those years, but they’re still hanging on, so I have to believe they made some drastic changes…. Obviously protecting Heavy and bulky electrical components for shipping overseas is not one of those things improved, So that leaves the Common sense to ASK for extra protection, additional insulation inside the box being prepared for shipping across THOUSANDS of miles, 100% in the buyers hands…I have personally bought just about every electrical part over the counter in person, only to open the pristine package, and only to find out AFTER installation, the problems persist, as well as more than TWICE, with the IDENTICAL part! How you might ask? Due to the shipper dropping the entire pallet of completely unknown parts off the back of the truck, where most professional drivers by trade have no idea that simply dropping a single, brand new, unopened box of spark plugs, never removed from their sleeves can deem the entire box of 4 spark plugs junk, without ANY visible damage, the very delicate electrode within the porcelain can crack internally, and show Zero signs of mishandling…Stuff happens, but if you want to better your chances of receiving a “good, Tested, working” part each time a replacement is needed, all you have to do to Better your chances and double the probability that your new electronics are safe from sudden shock by dropping, being thrown, crushed, bent or any other potential damage, YOU need to assume the responsibility by insisting on a well thought out packed item, even if you need to EXPLAIN word for word the level of protection you expect, MOST of the crew responsible for packaging WILL respond and do better….“It’s just unfortunate that Common Sense is not nearly as “Common” as the word itself would suggest!!”Therefore, it is all that much more important that YOU, the buyer take that extra step, by POLITELY explaining WHY the added level of protection is at the critically Important level that YOU have brought it to…..Happy wrenching, and ALWAYS remember to over-Wrap your package!Hope this helps shed some light on WHY several buyers have received inop, damaged or broken electronics….. unfortunately not every single package is labeled with exactly how delicate the electronics inside of the package are, and honestly, the delivery drivers themselves. Don’t have time to be that careful just because the shipper didn’t do his job properly, or protect their own livelihood prior to it going out the door…Ever since I’ve been asking for a heightened level of protection on electronics, I have yet to receive a non-working part… it really does work! A sense of humor and a polite attitude really goes a VERY long way with the people who package random items day in and day out!!

October 26th changed alternator, I have never changed an alternator out before on my 2006 Ford Mustang, but I watched enough YouTube videos to figure it out. The hardest part was getting the old one out. Once I placed the new one in it was a breeze. I am so very proud of myself. I did a great job, no more battery light on. I changed the battery out first with a brand new one. I know my battery was bad. I knew the alternator was bad because you know the old school method. Start the car up let her run then pull the negative post off battery and if the car dies (which mine did, its an easy answer that if it kills the alternator is bad) well this was the original one that came with the car when I bought it brand new in March of 2006. So this March my baby will be 18 years old and I just turned 30K miles. Very low miles, and with the original owner. So I put the new one in and bolted everything down hooked up the electrical components, and started her right up. No more battery light on dash, and quiet as a bird. The old alternator was starting to make noises, anyway down to the answer with this alternator is YES buy it and you will be happy. I am thrilled, and she is really running great! I saved at least $800 to $1000 if I had brought it to Ford! I am happy and my wallet is happy!! Thank you Lucas Auto. ******Update 12 days later, and the alternator is preforming excellent. No problems. The charging system in car says good!! ***********Its now November 12th still going strong**********TODAY NOV23RD STILL WORKING GREAT***********Okay now over a month today is the 29th, so far all is well. bought Oct 26th and today is Nov 29th, okay today is Dec 24, 2023 and still NO problems. The alternator is doing great! A+. I will update again in another month maybe two, we will see????***UPDATE*** Today is March 14, 2024, and I am happy to report that my alternator is still going strong. NO problems whatsoever. I am happy A+++UPDATE** Today is 04/29/2024, just a few days shy of the month of May, and still not one issue with the alternator. Working beautifully.*****okay we are now ending June going into July, and this alternator is working great, NO issues. Charging system says perfect when I perform the system charging scan. I am HAPPY with this alternator!!! Today, is now June 25, 2024*******I will keep updating every few months till we get to the 1 yr mark of when I bought this alternator, A+++++
