It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a solid brass step-up ring, or any accessory ring or camera lens filter. I’ll say this: it’s nice to feel the weight and solid build of an accessory that’s likely to last for many, many years.I’m not to clear about who the maker is, but I’m guessing it’s Luzid, while the distributor is Desmond Photographic. In any case, it’s unique in its exceptional brass build quality; it seems like everything is either aluminum or plastic nowadays accompanied with the spiel that it’s “lightweight.” Yea, it is, and It’s cheap too. Furthermore, a step-up ring going from 72mm to 95mm is not so easy to find.I needed a step up to 95mm to fit a Kase magnetic lens shade and this has worked out perfectly. I actually don’t have a lens with a 72mm filter size, but I do have a couple of lenses with 67mm filter sizes. I used a 62mm – 72mm step-up ring from the lens to the 72mm – 95mm Luzid ring, and that allowed me to use the 95mm lens hood on my 67mm lens.As the seller states, the threads are smooth as silk and likely to stay that way. The leading edge of the ring is knurled to provide a firm grip when attaching or detaching it. Another attribute I like about brass is the patina it acquires as the paint wears; brass takes on character. It’s old school, and reminds of the patinaed brass bodied Leica camera bodies I used to own.I perused the Desmond Photographic Amazon store; they have some beautiful Ball Heads and other accessories. Everything looks to be of exceptional quality.

I was really happy to see the desmond photo logo on the bag when I opened this product. I purchased one of desmond's ball heads and its by far the best i've ever had the pleasure of owning so I knew this ring would fit the bill. It fits my 75-200mm Sony F4 lens perfectly and allows it to fit my 600's 95mm filters. These type of products can be a real roll of the dice since crappy quality can occasionally ruin your filter mounts by stripping the threads. Desmond makes stuff with high end telescopes in mind so they use the best materials, this step up ring is no exception. I think Luzid might be a subsidiary of desmond so it's nice to see the brand branching out if that's the case. They're sold at B&H which can be a good indicator that they know what they're doing. All in all, I can't recommend this product enough, great stuff.
