Each Cupel will absorb 102 grams of lead.
Cupels are made from high quality dead burnt magnesia (MgO). Hard, smooth surface with consistency in weight and size. Provide exceptional results in gold mines, precious metal refiners, alloy melters, hallmarking, geological and test laboratories worldwide.
CUPEL DIMENSION is 2-3/8" across the top & 1-3/16" tall
The lead button for cupellation is typically generated in the crucible fusion from the fire assay process, but can also be produced by a scorification assay, or a bullion assay where the precious metal is wrapped in lead foil.
Typical cupellation furnace temperatures in gold and silver assays are 1650-1700F, but can vary with technique, air flow volume, and cupel material.

Over half the crupels came broken very disappointing. Needed to use them right away could not return half them. It would be nice to get three unbroken items without having to return all of them.

I've used these crucibles before and they work great. But for some reason someone decided to send this last batch in an envelope...... Half of them were broke/chipped when I got them. Very disappointed.

They seem to work alright but they were packaged poorly in a Amazon bag and 4 of the 6 were damaged or cracked

I had a 5 oz 60/40 silver lead mix in these cupels for over an hour, and the bowl didn't obsorb the leadoxide , at all the lead oxidized like it should however it just turned into Slag and broke off my silver button, the weight reduced to 4.15 oz which is a success in my opinion but I've used no.8 cupels and got better results with them... but these no.10 aren't doing the same thing .
