I did not pay almost 400 dollars for it to come in broken, with the only replacement available after a month.edit: the seller was nice enough to pay for the repairs. Seller was also helpful regarding some doubts I had about the instrument. sound is nice and sonorous.

Worth the price. I had found it for sale elsewhere for much more money. Good hardwood, well built, attractive piece of snakeskin on the head. I later upgraded to a better bow.

For the price, this is a great starter! You get everything you need, including extra strings! The first two D string I got both snapped when I was trying to string it first time! BUT the seller sent me new ones, so that was nice of them.Oh, for context I'm not new to music at all. I played violin as a child, piano, voice, melodica, etc. But I am new to erhu. It's easier on my shoulders(permanent injury, no longer able to play violin) and takes up less space than piano. The Erhu itself is well made. The tuning pegs need extra friction to keep from popping out of tune. I used chalk to great effect. The bow hair is on the cheaper end, it has frayed in a few places after about 3.5 hours(not all at once) of practice. But only a little, so it isn't super bad considering what was paid. The plastic that connects the bow heel with the bow hair is kinda a pain to connect. But it does mean that it's fairly sturdy. Let me tell you, stringing the thing WAS SUCH A PAIN!!!! I had NEVER had so much trouble stringing an instrument! And I've been sliced all sorts of ways by guitars and piano wire! Also, I can't figure out the microtuners to save my life. And I had to look up how to tie the Qianjin since it was all sorts unraveled. That was also kinda a pain, but only the first time around. I just use the rest of the qianjin string to make a microtuner, sort of. The rosin is kinda cheap feeling. You really have to cake it on like frosting to get a consistent sound. Use a fine sandpaper or nail file for best effect. The sound it produces is... well, fine. Since I'm still new, it's expected to not sound great. But I do notice improvement in tone as I go. So the instrument most likely has a good tone for the price.Overall, for about $350 it is very worth it for a beginner who is beginning to develop good habits, and learn about tone color. I would not advice it for more experienced players looking for the highest quality. Sorry that English isn't my first language.

Complete set for beginner or professional musician. Came prepared for use. You need only tune and you can play immediately. Package contains fine-tuners, additional set of strings... Good value. I did not find any certificate for the snake skin. It is problem when you want to pick the instrument cross the borders. I asked the producer for the certificate. He promised but never sent. I sent additional e-mail to him - without any reaction. That is the reason why I removed one star. I cannot travel with this Erhu.

I've owned this Zhonghu for over a month now. Once setup, this Zhonghu produces some very deep, sonorous and mellow tones that I am enjoying very much from its Ebony wood body. It allows me to express the more somber Chinese folk pieces that are of a lower register than the ones that I play with my Erhu.As for its construction, the base of the instrument feels very solid from its dense Ebony wood material and is covered with real Python skin as the membrane for the bridge to transfer the vibrations from the steel strings. There is, understandably, a Chinese stamp of the person or company that manufactures this Zhonghu as it definitely seems like a work of quality craftsmanship. The pegs seem to hold the strings very well as I rarely have to adjust the Zhonghu much to tune it even over a month's time and have a very nice decorative swirl pattern. After a good rosining and placing it between the two strings, the bow pulls the strings well and you can achieve decent speed with it.I also bought some additional bridges of different materials. I found it very important to test which bridge(s) allows you to get the exact tone you are looking for and for the piece you are playing. The brightness and how "damp" the sound of this Zhonghu can vary greatly depending on the bridge used.Overall, I am very happy with this Zhonghu and it really allows me to express the melancholy emotions that Chinese pieces written for the lower register Zhonghu due to its excellent construction and great materials. I would highly recommend this Zhonghu after owning and playing it for over a month.

Disappointed with the “hard case” because it’s made of fabric with foam, which isn’t hard. It is also kind of dirty as if it’s used because there’s no additional padding or any protection of the case of the package - simply placed within a wore-out amazon box.The bow is low quality and not even straight. Two broken horsehair on the bow.The erhu itself is nice. The sound is great. One of the string was rusty however..Overall it’s a decent erhu itself set aside accessories. Thr price doesn’t match up its quality n my opinion however.
