I have a lot of boxed tools and drawers so being able to quickly find what’s in a latching box without having to take it out and open it is pretty nice

My Dymo D1 labelmaker stopped printing clearly and no suggested fixes worked. I chose this model because is uses the same tape cartridges as the D1, so I would not have to throw out my spares. I have been pleasantly surprised that it has many additional features that are usually found on units costing twice that of the D1 (rechargable, more built-in printing options and bluetooth connectivity to enable additional options), for half the cost of a D1. Yes, the feel of some of the buttons is a bit "mushy", but they are also larger than those of the D1, so overall I would say the user interface is equal or superior.

The LM1600 Portable Label Maker is a solid and easy-to-use device that offers both convenience and functionality. It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth, allowing for easy label creation through an app, but it’s just as functional using the onboard buttons. This makes it versatile for different user preferences.One of the standout features is the variety of adjustments you can make, including font size (small, medium, and large), kerning, bold, and italics. This level of customization allows you to create labels that suit your specific needs. The unit charges easily via USB-C, and it comes preloaded with label tape featuring black type on white labels.However, there are a few drawbacks. Some of the buttons were not properly aligned, making them difficult to press at times. The unit itself is a bit bulky, and it feels like it could be more compact. Despite this, the labels come out smoothly and are easy to cut.The backlit LCD screen is a nice feature, providing clear visibility in various lighting conditions. However, I noticed that when using the largest font size, certain letters (like the bottom of a “g”) were slightly cut off. This suggests that the largest font may be a bit too large for the machine’s design.Overall, the LM1600 is light, easy to handle, and offers good functionality, but there are some design and usability issues that could be improved.
