after receiving the machine, we set about making jerky. Worked ok but something seemed wrong. When I was slicing a loaf of bread I noticed the sliding tray was not going all the way leaving about a half inch unsliced. Closer examination reveled that the tray was bumping into the blade guard blocking it from the full movement needed for a complete cut. I had to did out a few tools and was able to adjust the slide to miss the guard. After the adjustment it works fine.

I wanted the slicer to do raw meat for beef jerky. None of the other reviews really mentioned whether or not this was doable. The answer is that yes, you can do raw meat into small slices but it’s not going to be pretty unless the meat is at least slightly frozen. (It doesn’t slice cleanly, especially at the end of the piece.)To get really clean slices that are uniform, The raw meat must be frozen enough, but not so frozen that it is rock hard. There is kind of a sweet spot that requires some logistical planning!Cleaning is actually pretty easy, but you are really going to want to have cut-proof gloves on both hands! Also, do yourself a favor and take off the sharpener apparatus before you start slicing. It doesn’t need to be there in order to operate the machine and that way you don’t have to try and clean it too.Overall this is a solid unit, the quality reflects the price. The motor is powerful, it’s easy to use, and the blade is stout.

So much better than our old slicer, three tight screws to remove the blade for cleaning. We got safety gloves from Amazon to use when cleaning the blade as it is very sharp. Very happy with the new slicer.

I bought this for the Christmas Holidays back in 2016, and now its nearing Thanks giving 2021. This Slicing Machine still works great and Blade still remains sharp. the built on Sharpener attachment keeps the blade sharp and keen...and I only used the sharpener maybe 6 times. I use this machine several times a week normal usage and even more during holidays. Cutting all kinds of Roasts, Deli, Vegetables, I slice potatos paper thin for frying [homemade potatochips], and various cheese [Hint: partially freeze cheese for more ease in cutting]. Machine is built well, sturdy and runs very quietly, and sits looking great on my kitchen counter top. Safety is well though out...the one small thing that has bothered me is Red Enamel has chipped a little but not bad. I would have spent a little more and bought the Companies Stainless Steel Model. kWs is a good Company that more or less wrote the book on professional Slicers Machines and mine is no exception.

I was looking for a good meat slicer that didn’t bind, like the cheapie models do. I use to have one that had a plastic back on it, so if you pressed the meat through the blade you ended up with too thick a slice. I wanted a good one and this is it! The only drawback is that there’s not much room before the blade for a typical Black Forest ham.

We make Italian sausage every year and slicing it by hand is no fun. I bought a cheap slicer at Cabela's and it had a plastic gear inside that burned up. The blade was thin and the motor was weak so it struggled for the short time that it worked at all. This slicer is perfect for our sausage. It has a strong blade, is quiet and the motor doesn't seem to struggle at all. I love this thing. I highly recommend it.

I've had this slicer for 4 months now. I bought it to slice homemade charcuterie (lonza, bresaola, coppa, salami, etc.) and I am very happy with it overall. After some practice, I am able to slice these items as thinly as a deli.In terms of cleaning, it is relatively easy once you are used to the process. Absolutely buy a pair of cut resistant gloves for this purpose. I also suggest buying a dedicated screwdriver to keep in the kitchen. Three Phillips head machine screws must be removed before the blade can be removed for cleaning. You don't want to hunt around for one when the time comes. My only complaint is that the ink on knob that controls slice thickness has started to wear off. That should not happen with an appliance that requires regular cleaning.

I've been in the food business for over 15 years and I have a decent idea of when a product is engineered and built to withstand commercial use. This slicer is not suitable for use in the food business. After 6 months of light use, (about 3 hours a week) the main handle you use for pushing whatever it is your slicing stripped out. There's a screw at the end of the handle and it screws into this control arm. The threads on both are no longer good and the parts need to be replaced. The cost of the parts is around $70.I called the company and while they've been responsive to my inquiries, they claim that this is normal wear and tear and that the handle should not normally be removed. Therefore, they declined my warranty claim. But if you want to fully clean this machine, you need to remove the handle. And we fully clean our machines after each use.I would not purchase for use in any sort of food business. It's more suitable for home use.

Excellent product!!! I was looking for a home slicer to cut very thin slices (1mm or less) of a home made Armenian sort of ham (basterma). This machine did an excellent job even though the basterma was frozen. It was easy to clean and the construction and materials used to build this appliance feels as it is something built to last, very good quality. My only concern is how long will the sharpness of the cutting wheel will last and if the sharpen process will be easy, but with that said, I really recommend it!!!

I real slicer. Works well, sturdy, heavy. It's a little difficult to clean but that's true of all slicers. I've been preparing a couple of roasts at a time, slicing them and freezing them. You wouldn't want to set it up and do just a couple of slices due to the clean up job. Getting gloves for handling the blade would not be a bad idea.
