I tested several batteries available here on Amazon and elsewhere to decide which one was best. Even though this is on the high end of the cost scale, I believe it's justified. While I have not opened the case, I suspect there may be Sanyo 2150mAh cells in this pack.When I received the battery, I discharged it to 0.9v per cell (about 5.4v) and placed it on a KSC-24 dual-chemistry rapid rate charger. Once complete, it sat for about 12h in a 72F room. After the rest period, I applied a resistive load at about C/3 rate (approximately 750mA), which ran just over 3 hours to 2100mAH at 6.79v.This is a very good result, especially considering the cells may mature a bit more after a few more cycles. This is almost the equivalent of transmitting for 3 hours straight on a Kenwood TK380.Quality of the casing is substantially better than an "ExpertPower" branded 1800mAh battery I also tested, available here at Amazon. It does fit tightly on the radio, but not overly so. Markings on the label are correct (some other cheap batteries carry conflicting NiMH and NiCd badging).So, it's not the cheapest option out there, but I think it's probably the best bang for the buck!

Picked this battery up for an old TK-481 radio, came with about a 50% charge and took a full charge pretty quickly. The battery is very sturdy, pretty much matches the OEM battery that I had on this radio previously. I would not hesitate to buy another as a backup down the line.

This 2100mah NiMH pack replaced a 1700mah NiCad pack that was dead for a Kenwood TK380 HT. The HT works great, and the battery lasts all day. The battery fits tighter to the frame than the old battery, but latches/unlatches fine. It also fits the stick Kenwood charger with no issues at all. If you’re resurrecting these old radios for commercial/GMRS use, these are the batteries you need.

The battery charged right up in my drop in charger for my TK-481 and everything seems to be working fine. The battery is a bit thicker and does weigh more than the stock Kenwood battery. More bothersome is that the form fit is extremely tight on my radio. I had a bit of difficulting putting the battery on and a lot of trouble getting it off. I'm sure it will work fine and for the price point, I would recommend it with the understanding that it is a VERY tight fit. Pic included showing the stock battery (slimmer) vs this battery.
