. How High-Flow Technology Works
How does the K&N 57-3026 increase horsepower? By eliminating airflow obstruction in your engine. Restriction of air flow between an air filter and an engine robs even the most powerful engine of horsepower. K&N air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the standard air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamically engineered conduit that makes up the 57-3026 drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into power. This conduit begins with an oversized conical high-flow air filter. This larger filter can fit into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points because the 57-3026 replaces your stock intake tube, and air box. This provides more airflow at lower restriction than a standard filter, limited by the size of the factory air box. The oversize air filter also captures and holds more dirt, increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is also isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower.

The filter attaches to a rotationally molded tube made from nonmetallic interlaced high density polyethylene (HDPE). This allows for precision shaping of the tube to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine. This is why some K&N tubes have unique shapes or indentations that are specifically engineered for each engine configuration. Finally, the tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicon and reinforced nylon and ensures long life. Put all this together and you have the best high-flow intake system available today.

Street Legal
Many K&N intake systems are street legal in all 50 states and include a California Air Resource Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number that ensures the kit has been tested to comply with emissions standards. EO numbers apply to the kit as well as the year, make and model it is being installed on. Systems with no EO number are street legal in most states but may not be used on emissions controlled vehicles in the state of California or other states adopting California emission standards. Consult K&N's website to search by part to see which cold air intakes are CARB exempt for which vehicles.

Key Features:

Installed on a 1995 K1500 350 took less than 2 hours do the job. Coupled with a new throttle body spacer the combo seemed to help out my idle and the truck sounds much better. Had better throttle response in my brief test drive in the back field. Can’t wait to get it out on the road and really test it out.

The issue right out of the box once the air breather was taken off is that the fitment to the top of the carburetter area of the engine would not allow lining up the main air tube to the airbox front/filter cone ! Tried numerous spacers for realigning once it was bolted down with four extension screws. There is no way to make the unit connect flush and still align the air tube to the air box it was out by about half an inch. So what had to be done is the bottom edge of the plastic had to be shaved on the throttle body area on one side only to lower it putting a degree of angle to make a flush mount. Which should’ve taken 3/4 of an hour to an hour to do maybe worked into about a four hour job!Not impressed !Once I started cutting the plastic to try to make it a line properly I couldn’t stop and to send it back to K&N , didn’t make any sense as it already destroyed the bottom part of where it’s supposed to rest onto the air breather or throttle body area. Grrrr..Once alignment was completed it wasn’t an issue and is working fine.

Works great, definitely noticed more power and better fuel economy in conjunction with after market exhaust.

Installation was fairly straight forward on my 89 C1500. I had some real difficulty in lining up the drilled holes on the outlet side with the screws on the throttle body. I had to push at an angle on the intake to get all 3 screws to line up. Also, the instructions call for torquing the screws at 30 inch-pounds of torque. Many people have stated they stripped out the z bolt threads during this torquing, but that is likely because they were using foot-pounds instead of inch-pounds. 30 inch-pounds is only 2.5 foot-pounds.As for the results. I can't tell a difference at idle, or even on light acceleration, but it's definitely noticeable at the top end when accelerating onto the highway or passing.

Nice product with very good quality build. Directions could be better but easy enough to figure out. Saddle on my set-up is not really needed. Takes roughly 2 hours to install. Not crazy about the lock-nuts on the top of the assembly (throttle body)... for the price it should include a nice machined (stamped) K&N monogram plate on the top. Improves sound... HP change is subtle but noticeable.

I purchased this intake for my 1993 Chevy K1500 suburban (with the 5.7L V8 engine) and the metal box surrounding the air filter does not fit under the hood. Some pressure should be okay to form a seal, but when the hood is closed the box becomes warped at an odd angle and I believe it is starting to tear the sound padding on the underside of the hood. The truck is not lifted, so there should be no interference there. The unit itself is well-designed and seems of sturdy construction, just does not fit my application for some odd reason and will be going back.

Ok, I purchased this via amazon-warehouse in like new condition, looked to be open box and open install kit. Only things that were missing were instructions and the C.A.R.B. exemption decal(California) - which K&N sent me another decal, but you have to fill out a form, copy or registration and take a picture of the kit installed, but they do this free of charge. Now for my review,Again I installed this in a pretty much stock Chevy K1500(4x4 half ton) with a 5.7l/350. I knew going in a may only see a gain of about 10hp, but I thought it was worth a shot. So far the only thing I have noticed is on start-up my high/cold rpms is up slightly and do to this kit deleting the hot air from the exhaust manifold, take the truck a little longer to come down to normal idle. Can't say as yet to increase in power as I haven't driven it enough yet.My issues with install:1. The smaller part of the studs that go into the throttle body were not long enough for me, so I made my own out of 5x.8mm bolts at 50mm long(cut heads off with a dremel and re-died them), could have made this shorter 40-45mm. I also used flanged nuts to tighten stud to throttle body and regular nuts to lock the 2 stud halves togeather.2. I used a hose clamp on the fitting and silicone hose where it presses in to the grommet on the valve cover. I had a problem with the fitting working its way up in to the hose and then it would come out of the grommet. Oh that PVC tube as we'll as the grommets become brittle. My PCV tube broke when I tired to pull it out and the grommet was too far gone( if they fall in the valve cover there is a baffle that may keep it from fall in and save you from taking the cover off, I was able to fish my broken pieces out or you could try vacuum). I got a new genuine GM grommet($3) and tried to get a new PCV tube incase I wanted to go back to stock but GM doesn't make them any more and all dealers are out of stock!Tools: you'll want some heavy duty snips when your putting the weather striping in the heat shield as it has a metal core and I had to snip mine to make it fit at corners.Small vent filter that is included with the kit is only used on vehicles with the air injection system/pump. Mine doesn't have that and I missed the small writing on the instructions item #3 that say that, and the K&N tech who helped me with the CARB decal had to point it out!If I find out how or if amazon will let me I will post my pictures & will update this review after I get some more miles on the kit.
