I originally purchased some 4 inch gun socks for my scoped firearms and my shotguns. They work just fine with the stretch factor around the scope with a little effort. But these 6 inch socks do make a difference. Much easier to slide the scoped firearm into. The major benefit I see for this wider and thicker cover is being able to pad both sides of the scope with the extra length of the sock for more protection to the lenses . It creates a nice cushion.

These fit just fine..Lots of 'stretchy' room when slipping them on..None of the fire arms I'm using them for currently have scopes mounted..I did laid a scope next to a 'socked' rifle, and you can see that it shouldn't be a problem, what with the mostly unused stretch remaining..The sleeves are 6 inches wide, when empty..I only lost about a half to three quarter inch with a rifle inserted, not stretched, laying flat..So, there is plenty of stretch to fit over lever and bolt actions with a scope mounted..As for the material, it has a very thin ribbed makeup, and is thick enough to keep a gun from being nicked or scratched..And, if you have your other firearms socked up, that doubles the thickness between them..Don't forget, they are silicone treated as well..
