I am a riding instructor and use several different type horses for lessons. The Kavallerie Gel Saddle Pad helps to improve saddle fit on horses lacking a good top line, and provides extra cushion when it is needed. I have both the front lift and standard gel pads. One thing to watch for with this pad is when lifting it up off the horses withers be careful not to pull up by the center front of the pad because that is where it is most likely to tear. Always try to lift by the saddle pad beneath the gel pad rather than the gel pad itself.

Does its job, non slip, quality obviously good. Must be stored as boxed on arrival, rolled on plastic wrap to keep it from sticking to itself. Will be coated in dirt if dropped, though can be rinsed off. Handle carefully as could tear under its own weight it allowed to dangle. A very nice pad if you're willing to deal with those things.

I’ve had the front riser pad for over two years now and I love it. Since I use it as a bridge pad, the front padded areas fit right into the hollowed areas behind my 27 year old mule’s shoulders. This caused the pad to stick out past the rounded skirt of my western endurance saddle. The pad came with an creased area across the back to allow for trimming which was easily done with scissors and the pad fit perfectly within the rear skirt. I recently road for four days in the mountains and my saddle did not slip and my mule’s back wasn’t sore. As recommended, I place the gel pad over top of my thin saddle blanket and everything stays in place, even after a five hour ride. I have a custom made saddle for my mule but after 15 years I took it and mule back to saddle maker to verify the new gel pad placement was correct for my mule’s aging back. The saddle maker liked the gel pad a lot and wanted more information about it. I’ve kept the pad inside my trailer year around stored on a round PVC pipe so I’m not sure if the construction had changed since I purchased mine in early 2017 but there has been no tearing or disintegration like others have mentioned. I’ve considered purchasing another pad just in case something happens to this one but I’m concerned the quality may not be the same now. I’ll keep watching the reviews.

For a company that says they stands behind their product so much I was not able to get much help. I originally emailed KAVALLERIE directly through their website informing them after purchasing their gel impact pad it had ripped in 3 places and began to deteriorate underneath in just 6 months. I was informed that after 3 months they can no longer do anything about the pad, but give me $10 off another. I then received a DM through facebook after commenting on a post. Again informing me nothing could be done, after getting the run around for a few days. At the price point of $94 I expected this pad to last longer than 6 months. It was always stored flat in a tack box in an air-conditioned tack room. My horses love this pad so I do believe it is a great product and that I just received a defective pad. But its obvious they do not stand behind their product after 3 months which leads me to believe they rip all to often. I will not be purchasing another pad at this price point for it to rip again and not have the company stand behind their product.

So far so good! I've only had it a few weeks, but use it almost daily. It hasn't slipped, and keeps my saddle in place as well as provides a nice cushion for my pony. He doesn't need a riser or correctional pad, so I have the all over thickness one. I use it with my Marcel Toulouse 16.5 close contact Anise saddle (sp?) Its a bit long on the sides, but I don't want to cut it so I'm fine with that. I did just do a schooling show with a contoured pad that I've only used once (gotta keep those show pads nice! lol) and I decided to put the gel pad directly on the horse with the pad over it to "hide" the excess black gel from under my saddle. During my quick day before test ride with this set up, it worked fine, however, the next day, with a 3 hour very sweaty session, the gel pad didn't move from my horses back, but the saddle pad did end up bunching up underneath the back end of my saddle, and the pad did slide forward a bit... so I recommend using it on top of the pad as is described in the description. It's held up very well so far that way with no slippage. I've accidentally dropped it in bedding, and it is pretty sticky as others have mentioned so it will pick up the hair and shavings, etc... I just dipped mine in a soapy bucket when I bathed my horse and it came clean and I layed it to air dry and feels like it did when I took it out of the package brand new again. I've gotten several compliments already on it from people at my barn, and now they want one ;-) I told them where to go! Edited after reading, forgot to mention if my saddle didn't give it away that I ride huntseat. In Florida...;-)
