Nice yerba mate. I had the pleasure to try both the roasted and unroasted variants this company offers.I'd say this unroasted variant will feel familiar and enjoyable to any yerba mate fan. Smooth flavor with a light natural sweetness. Right in the middle between neutral yerba mate and naturally sweet yerba mate. The roasted version is fascinating. It's yerba mate intensified 3x if not more. It comes out black even with the traditional yerba mate brewing method of giving it no time to steep. And it tastes like someone has sharply infused your yerba mate with the flavors and aromas of a fresh bonfire. Tart, fiery, smoky, yet amazingly a little note of the natural sweetness still lingers. If you are looking for a tea substitute, try this unroasted one. If you are looking for a coffee substitute, try the roasted one. Some prep tips I like to add to my yerba mate reviews in case you don't own a yerba mate gourd:You can prepare it with pretty much any tea infuser or filter.- Fill a tea filter with a few tablespoons of yerba mate. It's to taste but generally start with 3x the amount of green tea you'd use for a cup, and dial it up or down from there.- Add a little bit of cold water just to dampen the leaves.- Then start adding water at about 70°C or 158°F, and drinking the infusion right away. The main difference between brewing this and regular green tea is that you don't let this steep like tea. You add the water, not hot enough to scorch the leaves or your tongue, and drink the infusion instantly. You can keep infusing it like 10, 15, 20 times.

I'm a heavy coffee drinker but sometimes I find that I become too jittery after drinking too much. I decided to give this a try and I was pleasantly surprised at how it gave me a gentle boost of energy without any negative downsides. Even taken on an empty stomach, I didn't have any adverse effects. The very first time I tasted it, to be honest, I wasn't sure what to make of it but it grew on me. To me it tastes kind of like green tea, with a more nutty taste, and woody undertone. I really like it now!

I have been drinking yerba mate for years and even own a gourd and bombilla straw. But they are not required to brew It. It brews nicely in a French press or a tea ball. It is important to use the proper temperature of hot water or it will become too bitter. Yerba mate does have a distinctive taste, bitter and earthy but the high resulting from drinking it is not just energy, but it has a mental effect. For me it seems to increase my mental clarity. Great for when I am studying or doing work that requires complex thinking. I usually drink yerba mate in the afternoons when I am tired and need that type of mental pickup. This is a quality product, USDA organic, raw and natural. I think this is a good brand that cares about their product. They also offer varieties of herbal yerba mate that I plan to explore soon.

Looks good, smells good, tastes good. Nice big bag. Definitely different from the mate I usually pick up at the store!

This is a neat idea - a tea that instructs you to use a French press and is bagged like coffee. Unfortunately I keep over brewing it and it definitely ends up bitter. I can’t seem to get a handle on remembering to time my French press. I know I need to just get a handle on it and then it’ll be fine. It’s an unroasted tea and generally I prefer the roasted. It seems like a good tea though, even though I can’t manage to set a timer.

This is a solid tea with a good caffeine kick. I normally drink coffee black, so this was actually tasty to me. Doesn't come in bags so you need your own method.

Listing: Katú Ka'a Premium Organic Yerba Mate Herbal Tea, Raw Traditional, Air-Dried Loose Leaf, Rich Tea Leaves, Energy Boost, 17.6 oz (500g)Katú Ka'a Premium Organic Yerba Mate Herbal Tea, Raw Traditional, Air-Dried Loose Leaf, Rich Tea Leaves, Energy Boost, 17.6 oz (500g)I'm giving this five stars even though I'm not a fan, because I think this is an acquired taste, or at least one that you have to like before buying it. I've never tried yerba mate before, so I probably shouldn't have ordered it.Both of my daughters like green tea (a lot), but only one of them likes this tea. However, she really, really likes it. My other daughter found it too bitter.I don't think it's fair to give a poor rating just based on one's subjective taste, so I'm rating this based on my love-it daughter's preference, as well as the apparent quality of the product itself. The packaging is secure and healthy, and there's a huge amount of tea in this package. The tea is well-dried and cared for. It looks like a very good product.Again, my older daughter thinks this is fantastic, so I will go with her experience.
