No instructions included. It's basically 3 flat pieces of steel with holes. No type of soft rubber protection for any of the edges. Very heavy, can easily damage door trims and hardwood floors. No snug stops to lock in the doorway. Being so heavy, it can very easily fall over on a foot or a child touching it and cause serious physical pain or worst....I do not recommend. Unless willing to purchase the additional items to make this practical and safe to use....

We have a travel trailer with a fairly standard aluminum screen door. The lower part of the door is basically a large square of screen so I am concerned that it will easily get torn or otherwise damaged - especially with our dog loving to check out everyone passing by. My hope had been to use this protector to provide a visually pleasing way to add some stability and protection. The protector set comes in three very large and heavy metal plates along with a bag of nuts, bolts and washers. There are no directions to assemble the setup so you can only hope you have put things together correctly. This protector weighs at least as much as the entire screen door, if not more. I am also not fond of the fairly industrial appearance of the assembled protector. The combination of mediocre appearance, questionable assembly and heavy weight led to me not leaving it on my screen.

I bought this screen door protector to save my RV screen from my dog. The protector is nicely coated, perforated steel, with a center section and two sliding, adjustable wings. It will definitely defeat animal claws. Wings slide out, then set in place with a screw. Attachment screws are included. Some drilling will be necessary to attach permanently to the screen door. Installation is very straight-forward.This door protector is heavy enough to use on a permanent residence screen door. I found that for my RV, with the aluminum screen door frame, that the protector is heavier than the door itself. Those with light-weight camper screen doors may want to consider how sturdy their screen door is.I recommend this as a door protector for a residence, or for a screen protector for RVs with heavier screen doors.

Where to begin? This is not a gate, pet or otherwise. This contains 3 heavy steel, black painted panels with holes without any instructions. If it's going to be of use you'll need tools, engineering experience and parts to hold this together. It's only safely useable if you purchase or make side and top brackets. Top bracket needs to allow the panels to slide, while the side need to be somewhat fixed for safety otherwise, it will fall down and could cause injury. Is it effective?Yes, but with a great deal of engineering and additional stabilization. If you're looking for a project and like to solve puzzles this is for you.If you want an easy, quick pet gate to put up and take down as needed, this isn't it.The quality of the steel panels is very good and it looks expensive, but requires a lot of thought and work to be functional.

There are some great things about this door protector but I think other choices may be better. The overall size is 20 inches tall and width expands from 21 to 31.5 inches. The Good StuffThis door grill is well designed, well manufactured and well finished. The metal panels are thick and strong and should provide more protection from large and heavy dogs than lighter weight metal panels. The paint is smooth and even with no scratches or chips and looks tough enough to withstand pet scratching etc.All edges are smooth and rounded eliminating any chance of cuts, scrapes or other injuries to you or your pets. The design is stylish and strong yet easy to see through. The Bad StuffThis thing is HEAVY. Most door protectors are aluminum, this one is steel. It weighs over 9 pounds. That may not seem like a lot but it is very heavy when mounted to a lightweight screen door. The door could easily suffer twisting or hinge fatigue over time. There are NO instructions in the box or online regarding assembly. The unit comes with a bag of screws and nuts but you are on your own to figure out the best way to put it together. It is not difficult to assemble but printed instructions would have helped. The slide attachment points are designed for square top carriage bolt type fasteners but the kit comes with regular round bolts. It works but the carriage type bolts would have been more secure for the sliding track. If you have large dogs and a strong door this may be a great solution for you but for most smaller breeds and lightweight doors I would suggest an aluminum door protector.

I ordered this RV screen door protector to prevent my dog from scratching and putting holes in the screen as well as escaping. This is heavy duty metal material and will prevent my dogs nails from going through the door. There are two additional metal pieces included to put on either side or at the top of the larger piece. This screen door protector will be helpful for larger dogs as well. All of the hardware is included to assemble this metal to your screen door frame. There are no instructions included, but it is easy to figure out.
