I was initially very excited to try this adapter because it seems like a really simple elegant solution to ebike charging on the go using EV chargers. EV chargers are all over the place and it would be super helpful to be able to charge your ebike from them. Unfortunately this charging adapter is not as straight forward as I hoped. Although the output is a standard 120V outlet, it receives 240V when plugged in to an EV charger. Meaning that there is no step down transformer in this device to help regulate the power. So in order to use this adapter, you need an ebike charger that can handle 240V. They are more common than you would think but if your charger isn't rated for 240V, then this adapter will fry your charger and permanently ruin it. In order to properly use this adapter, you basically need a european e-bike charger designed for a 240V outlet. Some ebike chargers have this function built in but many don't so definitely check because this could ruin your charger.Another downside is that most 240V ebike chargers have the european style of outlet which is not compatible with the american style outlet included on this adapter. Sometimes you can get chargers with american plugs that can handle 240V but that is more uncommon. This is another reason why its super important to double check your charger's maximum input voltage. If you have one with a european plug, you could get an adapter for this which would probably be the ideal configuration of this adapter.Overall, I probably wouldn't recommend this adapter unless you are fully familiar with the implications of charging your ebike with 240V. Some ebike chargers can handle this but many can't so its super important to check before you plug it in. This most likely is not going to be a simple plug and play solution. To properly use this adapter, you will probably need a european ebike charger and a european to american outlet adapter. Its not the most elegant solution IMO. This product would have been much better if they included a 240V to 120V stepdown converter within the adapter. This would ensure that it works with standard american ebike chargers like the plug would suggest. If you buy this adapter and don't understand how the voltage works, you're probably gonna do some damage to your ebike charger. Make sure you read up on this and understand what I'm saying in this review. The seller hints at this in the description but I don't think they make it clear enough that you can seriously damage your charger by using this if you aren't careful. I would have given less stars but the overall quality of the adapter is decent and it does work as long as you can get the right configuration.

Cool little hack that gives you a power outlet from an EV charger. Most of the EV chargers are setup for 240V and this is just a pass through. So while the plug looks like a 20V version of a 120V outlet, double check what you plug into this and that it can take the 240V. I'm going to be installing this on an RV to keep the inverter powered up when parked at work (they have plenty of EV charging ports available). Routed through my travel inverter that takes 100-240V and gives me 120V. Hope I remember to unplug it as I go sprinting off after work on Friday evening.
