I did an over/under gear ratio on my JJRC c8808 and I’m extremely happy with the results

My axles did not need shims. With 1 shim they were too tight. The first dry fitment they feel a lil rough. After 20 seconds of spinning by hand they got smoother.Lubed the gears and test drove for 2 minutes and re checked slack.Smooth and perfect.I went with the 10/24 for more precise slow speed and paired it with the injora transmission with purple motor.A sweet Lil combo but be careful it has enough power to snap the plastic shafts with ease.

These gears come in three different gearing ratios. I got the underdrive gears so that I could make my back axle. Turn slower than my front axle which helps with steering and climbing these gears work perfectly and would be an upgrade, even if you kept the stock ratio just because they’re made out of metal and don’t break.

Used this underdive set for trx4m build. They weren't the smoothest at first but seem to be wearing in good.

Bought two sets, both exhibit the same problem. The ring gear probably has excessive runout, or the machining of the teeth is off. Every few rotations of the pinion there is a spot where the resistance to turning increases. If it was every rotation, that would point to the pinion gear being the issue. Since the pinion must rotate multiple times for the ring gear to rotate once, that points to the ring gear having a defect. Both of the gear sets I bought have this issue, one of the other reviews mentions the same thing, and if you look at reviews for the other gear ratios there are multiple complaints for the same thing. They include two small shims, but these do not fit on either side of the spool with the ring gear. They do fit on the pinion gear shaft, and on injora's website it is stated that these are "extra parts" and can be placed outside of the axle, between the driveshaft and the outer pinion bearing. Cool. Not super useful. What else would I do with them, put them between the pinion and the inner bearing to shove it tighter against the ring gear and make the problem worse? If they are going to include shims, they should be of a size that can fit between the spool and the side bearings. This would let you put one or more on only one side to move the ring gear slightly away from the pinion. Hopefullythat would be enough to loosen up the mesh and maybe prevent the excessive drag.Injora, are you listening? If I can figure out the issue that numerous people are complaining about, surely you have the resources to do something about it.Maybe Traxxas will release their own overdrive and underdrive axle gear sets. You can bet those would run like they should because apparently Traxxas actually pays attention to tolerances, manufacturing, and testing. Long story short, my experience with these gears has me questioning whether or not I will buy Injora products in the future.
