This Hygger aquarium light has an extendable design that lets you use it on tanks within a range of lengths. As a full-spectrum light, it combines white, red, green, and blue LEDs to support plant growth while keeping power consumption low. Unlike some ultra-budget lights that rely only on white LEDs, this setup provides a more balanced spectrum for healthier plants. A standout feature of this cheap Hygger light is its built-in timer, offering 6-, 8-, and 12-hour settings. Most planted aquariums do best with 6-8 hours of light per day, so having these options makes it a better fit for a variety of setups. I know of some aquarists that use the DLI method (Daily Light Integral), running lights for 12 hours at reduced intensity to encourage growth while limiting algae so the longest running option should work well for them too.Brightness is adjustable in 10% increments, allowing for customization based on your tank’s needs. Setup is simple—just choose your intensity, set the timer, and the light will follow a 24-hour cycle, automatically turning on and off at the same time each day.I tested this light on my nano tank with mostly easy-medium category plants including Dwarf Hairgrass, Anubias Nana, Rotala H'ra, and Buce Black Pearl and they all thrived with the consistent, even lighting at

We just upgraded from a 10 gal to 20 gal planted tank. My plants needed a stronger light than we had with the 10 gal, which warranted this upgrade. This light sits atop our glass lid and has a nice low profile, but it seems well made and easy to keep clean if subjected to water splash. Our previous light did not have a timer function at all, so this was an attractive function as was the full spectrum light for my plants. I love the ability to dim the lights and see on the remote which level is set. My previous light required me to cycle through and keep track of how many clicks to achieve the level of lighting I wanted. The timer function works well, but it was a little challenging to figure out how to program both the moon light (which has to be programmed first) AND the day light. The various color options are a fun touch for the kids, but generally don’t get used much. The color changing option moves a little too fast for my liking.Overall, my plants seem happier and I would probably order again.

This is a nice light overall. Here's my pros and cons:Pros/features:- This light gets quite bright, which is really nice. I'm quite impressed with it. It has a lot of LEDs on it.- Perhaps my favorite thing: It has lots of great settings for the light intensity, and the really great feature is that you can see what intensity it is at on the controller itself, which is an awesome touch!- Lots of different colors you can set it to, and then the setting that turns on all LEDs (like a white full spectrum). I don't personally use the different color lights, so mine just stays on the one white setting, but some people may like that.- There's settings for both the daylight and nightlight (Again, I don't use the nightlight, nor do I recommend that people use nightlights on their aquariums for algae reasons, but hey, it's there if you want it)Cons. Overall, there aren't many cons for this except for a couple things:- This is the biggest problem - the timer function for the daytime settings only lets you use it at 100% brightness. I've had other aquarium lights (even Hygger lights!) that have a timer function where you can set the max intensity, so this is a bummer that in order to use the built-in timer, it HAS to be on 100% brightness, which is quite bright! You can just use a separate timer, which is what I will do, but it would have been nice to have it built in.- I think it would have been nice to have more white color settings (ie., turning off the reds/blues/greens) so people can play with different spectrums of white. But, this is a minor thing.Overall, I'm quite impressed with this light. Super excited to be able to see the intensity on the controller (more lights with dimmers need to do this!), and It's an impressively bright light. Just wish the timer function was better.

I have been converting the lighting in my fish room to modern led full spectrum lights. You can see in the picture what I was using… a simple 6500k linear LED fluorescent replacement mounted to a piece of wood. This new hygger light is a great replacement. I had to get creative with the way I mounted it to fit my setup but that was easy.I have a number of LED aquarium lights from hygger, and they seem to just keep improving them! The earlier ones did not have a battery or nvram and would loose their programming if the power went out. They made a newer version that had a battery to solve that problem. This one must have some kind of nvram as it does not need a battery to keep its programming. My only issue with it is if you use it in one of the hour modes… you can’t control the brightness level. I am running mine using an external timer so I can set the brightness the way I want it and it will just come on to that level when power is restored. If you do this, you loose out on the time of day features. I am going to play with it more and see if I can find a better way.I think they should have kept the clock on this model like some of their others because you can’t set the time of day… you have to plug it in when you want the day to start.Despite the 2 things I pointed out. I think this is a really nice aquarium light and would recommend it.
