It is extremely bright and has been working well so far. Picture is compared to a standard old 40 watt incandescent. Won’t fit into all fixtures but it works well in the clamp light I’m using. Only measures to draw 50watts but still is extremely bright.

These bulbs have an internal ballast. If you use these bulbs mounted horizontally, stresses on the ballast will cause the bulbs to burn out. Always mount the bulbs vertically. Mine are vertically down and they last 3 years or more!

I had high hopes for these bulbs and when I first got them, was very happy with the output and how my plants responded. I have a large succulent collection I am overwintering in my home. However, within six weeks, all three bulbs burned out and I sent out for replacements while under warranty. Less than 3 weeks later, one of the bulbs blew out of the socket while I was at work - the glass part was hanging down from the screw-in part by one wire. I just was informed by Amazon that I cannot exchange for a different bulb, but that I have to send it in and wait for a refund. Now I am out the cost of a different bulb to get lights back on my plants, have to go back to UPS and return the bulb and wait for it to be processed to get a refund on my account. I am going to return the other two bulbs and get a refund, because I fear that it is only a matter of time before they burn out or explode and I am not going to risk my animals. Wish these had worked!!

Recently purchased one of these Hydroponic Full Spectrum CFL Grow Lights for my new Tower Garden after reading another recommendation on Amazon about it. I am working on an urban garden project, and will be growing veggies and herbs year-round completely indoors. Thought I had plenty of light in a corner of my kitchen, with plenty of windows, but I live in a densely forested area, and - while there is plenty of sun in Summer - with Fall and Winter the sun comes in from another direction...and sometimes, not at all. After 2 weeks of plants dying, I purchased a Sylvania Grow Light from a local store. Although better, I was still having dismal results. My plants were germinating quickly, but then were weak, spindly and leggy. After about a week of using the Hydroponic Full Spectrum CFL Grow Light on them, leaving it on all day, my plants all showed signs of improvement - AND the newer seedlings that were germinating were noticeably stronger, thicker stems, less leggy, more leaves and more color.I have since ordered a two more, and I keep them on the Tower Garden all day. (about 12-15 hours)While it is a big bulb, it does not get overly hot, fits into a standard light socket, and I am using them in inexpensive clamp lamps. It obviously is producing full spectrum light. It IS BRIGHT! Neighbors think spaceships have landed here! But it is a clean, lovely white light - don't need to turn on any other lights in my kitchen!I have supplemented the lighting; I use the TaoTronics Led Grow light Bulb on my seedling trays at night. The addition of it has produced even greater results and I think chaging off between the two types has been very effective.Yes, I definitely would recommend this bulb. I am posting some photos so you can judge for yourself some early results. The first photo shows how much the the seedlings have improved. The second image was what they looked like with the Sylvania Grow Light. The third photo of Arugula shows the younger plant on the left, that was exposed to the grow light next to a plant 2 weeks older (right), but not exposed to the light.

These bulbs will grow anything you want indoors. They give off very little heat, have a nice spectrum of light (5500K), and use very little electricity. The bonus is that they fit into regular bulb sockets. Keep in mind they are about 9 inches long. You can use these bulbs during the vegetative stage of your plant's growth as well as the flowering stage. In a perfect world, you should switch out the 5500K bulbs when your plants start to blossom with . As you can see, things can start getting expensive. You can use either bulb throughout the plant's life, from root to reaping, but if you only have money for one type of bulb, use these. I've found no difference in switching out the bulbs during the flowering stage. You can also mix and match so half are 5500K bulbs and the other half are 2700K bulbs. This ensures your plants get the full spectrum of sunlight.I use these bulbs for all stages to grow "vegetables" and they work exactly as promised. Plus you can't beat the price. Keep them about 4-8 inches from the tops of your plants to prevent leaf singeing. Here are a few tips:* Hold the top of your hand below the light (after the bulb's warmed up) where it's level with your plant's topmost leaf. If it gets too warm, it's too close to your plants.* Get the to screw in the bulb and reflect back any rays downward. This clamp is great for adjusting the bulb in different directions and has a large reflector.* Get either a or if outlets/space are an issue. If you do get a socket adapter (either 2 or 4), you'll need to get a so you can screw it into your clamp light. The socket extender will give you the extra length you'll need with your socket splitter.* The rule of thumb is to use 50 watts per square feet of grow AREA, so a 3'x3' grow area would be nine square feet. Each bulb gives off a 250w incandescent equivalent (and 60 watts of yummy CFL plant light) so you would need 7-8 bulbs. Keep in mind that the grow area is not the same as the size of your grow room. For example, if you've cordoned off 9 square feet in the basement to growing plants, you'll need about 8 of these.* If you're bad at math, just use one bulb per plant. It may seem like a lot at first but as your plants get bigger, that 9-inch bulb doesn't seem quite so big compared to your three-foot plant! As an added bonus to growing vegetables and whatnot inside your house is the extra humidity your plants provide during the winter season via evaporation. If you live in an apartment and do not have access to an outdoor grow area, and it's summertime, keep that in mind when choosing your light source. These bulbs give off negligible heat and use scant amounts of electricity. They are an excellent buy and highly recommended.
