It filters out some sediment in comparison to the spun nylon sediment filters. i have a whole house sediment and carbon block filter. then have a ro system with a spun nylon whole house filter the sediment filter on the ro system is white for months with this filter on the ro sediment filter gets dirty rather quick.

Hydronix makes excellent filters and these 1 micron filters are exactly what I needed. I'm using them as both a Pre and Post filter for my water conditioning system, which consists of a Carbon filter and Water Softener. The pre filter catches nearly all of the sulfur particles that precipitate out of the water that is pumped from the aerator tank. The post filter catches any charcoal fines or loose particles from the water softener. The 20" filters are the way to go, since I can't even detect a pressure drop from the pump. Highly recommended.
