My 1st experience mechanic at a bike shop. Hozan c702 i thought was abused.Built & repaired 100's of high end rims.Decades later purchased this very good price.Brand new c702What a waste of time. This tool boasts an occasional 14g RE-thread.Fact. The triple head does spin threads. That "look" good. On my brand new stainless spoke.Brand new brass & alloy nipples flawlessly silk smooth on factory brand new stainless & titanium spokes.Instantly bound. on the same stainless spoke fresh spun thread from this brand new Hozan thread tool.Fact would have destroyed both brass & alloy nipples "forcing" threading further.!Attempted a standard old spoke. This tool actually cross threaded onto a cheap spoke. Actually had to disassemble this tool too remove the now stuck spoke.!Also. This mini 3 jaw chuck marres powder coated or painted spokes. Look at the blue spoke red arrow pointing at the damaged powder coat.PS*** the "factory" head position should be perfect.!I adjusted positive & negative.Same poor thread pitch.Only 2 REAL spoke thread tools(1) phil wood(2) MorizumiBoth 3- 6+ thousand$. Simply NOT worth it.Would take decades to make your money.

You may have to adjust the die, if it’s too loose, threads will be too shallow & nipple will be too tight. But if die is too tight, threads will be too deep and nipple will also be too tight. So you may have to tighten or loosen die a quarter turn at a time until nipples thread on with finger pressure. But once setup this thing works perfectly!I would also recommend lubing all the moving parts when you get it.

I debated this or the Cyclo version, which was much cheaper, but having read the reviews, I decided on the Hozan threading machine.Unfortunately, this product seems unavailable in the UK, but I was able to buy it from the US via Amazon, which arrived a lot quicker than expected with import costs included was £112.The machine is simple to use, and I've done around 80 spokes. Some threads run smother than others, but no duff ones have been made so far. Keep the threading head lubricated and don't rush. Others use a drill to drive the handle, but you are just asking for trouble and risking damaging the head.Overall, I'm satisfied with it,does the job, maybe a little expensive but better that waiting for spokes to arrive.

I was not initially stoked on the idea of the price of this tool... however, after getting it an using it, I understand that there are not many competitors out there and I was looking to save money over the long run. This will definitely save me money and I already fixed 4 different bike wheels with this one purchase. Know in advance that the directions are in Japanese, but they do have pictures to go with it. You can also find videos online on how to use it pretty easily. Does a great job cutting the threads for the spokes and would definitely recommend for a DIYer or someone who wants to work on your bikes independently.

Out of the box, after a practice spoke I was able to thread 4 stainless replacement spokes for a wheel set with minimal fuss. Threads looked as good as factory threads, and the DT swiss brass nipples seemed to fit the threads well. I did have an issue with a couple spokes getting caught in the die, after it failed to start and I had to fuss with the die a little. I think I solved that, and have a couple theories why it happened. It takes me about a minute or so to cut, and thread a spoke. Perfect for replacing a couple broken spokes and I bought my Hozan knowing it excels at this. For an entire wheel I would rather order custom spokes, or have them made at a local shop that has a $4000 Morizumi threader that can crank them out super fast.Overall I am happy because I can now stock high quality bulk spokes in 310mm lengths, and make what I need. Trying to keep a good assortment of replacement spokes on hand even was becoming a lost cause. Now I can keep about 4 styles of spoke and cover just about everything I see.Instructions are in Japanese, but you can find all you need to know from you tube and I was still able to figure out some useful details from the instructions like how the scale fore depth is graduated in 3mm increments.

I first purchased the Cyclo spoke threader. It was hard to use and finicky. It had plastic on one of the most important parts. Just overall sub-par quality. The Hozan is so much better! First, the threads are perfect no issue with rolling. The device is well made and is all metal. The roller needs to be oiled more than you think but it does a great job. Overall I'm glad I baught this. Cost more but is hands down a better product than the Cyclo.

I liked the tool👍But—-I am still wondering why the sent me two and charged my card for both of them.😏I used the second one as a present to my son that is into bikes. The one I kept was to rebuild my old trike. The bike shops in my community will not service.

Its all it says it is. It threads spokes. One thing to remember is the new spoke length is not much shorter than the spoke you are going to cut, then the cut will be in the old threads. Do not cut on the old threads. It messes up the ho-zan trying to get started making new ones. First run the threader up the old threads and continue threading the new threads to your desired length. Then cut the spoke. Touch up the end with a file and thread on the spoke nut. Mission accomplished:)

This tool is easy to use and I successfully threaded a set of spokes without any loss. You will need a mount to hold the tool and oil to place on the threads of the roller and spokes. The markings on the rod show how far you have threaded the spoke as you turn the crank. A simple but nice feature. The instructions were also thorough and helpful. Sanding the spokes flat if you had to cut them is key. My only small complaint is that for what it is, it "seems" like it should cost less. Is it less than a $4,000 spoke machine and did it work? Yes... I'm just saying...
