These Hose Pinch Off Pliers Set, Straight & 90° Angled Hose Pinch Pliers, Lines Clamp Pliers have become such huge time savers in allowing the easy removal of clamps on automotive hoses. The huge angle you get allow you to extract and remove hose clamps in those hard to reach places. The rubber grips allow you to get a good grip and less worry about slippage once you get the plier in position for removal of a hose clamp. Using these Hose Pinch Off Pliers Set, Straight & 90° Angled Hose Pinch Pliers, Lines Clamp Pliers are quality made and grip hose clamps in some of the tightest places. I would recommend this set for the DIY, seasoned mechanic , professional its a good quality set made to last.

I received straight hose pliers in a flat box with a label that says 90 degree style. If you order these you are probably going to get the straight pliers not the 90 degree. The 90 degree pliers clamp flat across the hose sealing it effectively where the straight clamp pinches the side of the hose near the joint tighter than the end of the pliers. They are really only effective for smaller hoses. There is really no ratcheting action as I would expect like you would find in a ratcheting crimper for instance. There is no spring loaded ratchet or release. It is just a loop of metal that you manually slip up the handles to stop the handles from releasing. There are ridges on the handles that prevent the loop from slipping. This is fine and effective but it requires a second hand to slip the loop while you are squeezing where a ratcheting system would be one handed and automatic.

The set of hose pinch pliers work great. Used them while changing a car radiator and had to pinch some transmission cooler lines. I like that fact that you get a 90 degree and a straight pinch plier. Just squeeze the hose and slide the locking ring to hold in place Perfect seal, no leaks

These are purpose built for pinching off coolant, diesel, oil lines et al. Having two different styles allows one to choose the best one when space is limited. Quality is very good, on par with Harbor Freight IKON. I am giving these only 4 out of 5 stars as the width of opening the jaws is limited. Having said that, large diameter hoses typically have an embedded spiral of metal to improve integrity and to prevent hose collapse under suction conditions and pinching off such hoses would damage them. See photos for jaw opening dimensions for both pliers.

These arrive in a small box and each is inner-packed in a resealable plastic bag. They are designed to do exactly what they are represented to do. There are no sharp edges on the blades. Rather, they are flattish at the points of contact and that is what you want in a crimping tool......close it up, but don't cut it up. I will not use this on a day in and day out basis, but will still use them frequently. For instance, I have a lot of Stihl landscape equipment in my possession and I use most of it frequently (exception would be the chain saw). Among several other pieces of equipment, I have a backpack blower as well as a handheld blower. I have had the handheld blower for many years. Every time it starts chugging and acting up, I buy a new carburetor, disassemble the unit, and replace the carburetor. There is always some gas spillage involved once the gas lines are removed from the old carb. Not any more. Same thing with the riding lawn mower at the lake house. These two will be perfect when I change the fuel filter and/or the fuel pump. And, I might add a comment about the thoughtfulness as it relates to the two pieces included. There are two different blade orientations and each will allow you to reach spots that the other one cannot reach.

These hose clamp pliers are well made and reasonably priced. They should hold up for many years even under regular use. The piece that holds them in place once you clamp the hose is sufficiently strong to keep the hose clamped and there are lots of grooves so you can find the right hold point for any hose you clamp. The grips are comfortable which is helpful when you need to apply a good bit of force to clamp a thick, stiff hose. These will be helpful to have around. You may not realize how often you already could have used these if they were handy, but remember the last time gas, brake, transmission or power steering fluid spilled from a line? That's when these would have been helpful and allowed you to avoid a mess. At about $35 (at this time) they're a good investment.

I've used this clamp a few times and it has performed perfectly. The broad plastic pads on the jaws do a nice job of keeping my hoses from getting any damage and the locking mechanism works fine. ONE star for Amazon - I bought this 4 times and returned the first 3. Amazon kept sending me the straight jawed version (completely different item) and no matter how many times I explained the issue in chat and asked them to inform distribution of a clear stocking/item # issue, they kept sending the wrong one. Wasted so much of my time and their money. Way to go Amazon.

I got this for a radiator i had to change. I crimped the upper and radiator hoses, and it saved me from having to replace all the coolant inside the engine. They are easy to use.
