I have Hoppe's Bore Snakes in sizes to fit every one of my firearms. They work in a pinch and are great to have in the field if you end up with dirt or debris in your barrel. They have saved me several times in the field. They are compact and fit easily into hunting bag/gear. They are also easy to clean.

Doesn't get a lot simpler to keep your barrel clean. Cleans, scrubs and oils all in one motion, if you follow the directions. Add cleaner to the front end and gun oil at the tail. It has wire scrubs wound into the body. Does it all in one or two swoops.

Bought this for a 12g shotgun as an alternative to rod cleaning. I have not been disappointed. There is a small section of brass brushes that knock down any big pieces of residue and the rest of the snake comes through to get the really small stuff. Pull it through a few times and it's pretty well clean. There's a few reviews that say this won't clean as well as rods and I would say that's true but for a shotgun this cleans more than sufficiently. My only knock on this product is that I don't think it cleans as well as the newer version. I think the newer version is a bit more aggressive. That does how ever make the new version slightly harder to pull through.Overall, at this price point and for what I paid for it, I would do again.

These Boresnakes are one of the greatest inventions ever. With just a few passes this will get even the dirtiest barrel spotless. This is so easy to use, even a cavemen could do it. In fact I know a lot of Marines that do. I even used one of these to clean the snot out of a crappy Mosin Nagant barrel, and it practically polished the bore improving its groupings. Obviously the BoreSnakes for rifle and pistol calibers can be used on several similar sizes, and they work exceedingly well on all the sizes in their range. For a small investment you can own four or five of these and clean the barrel of practically every rifle you own. These last forever as well. I clean them by throwing in with the rags when I do laundry. I've yet to have one of the brass weights fall off in the dryer.

This product is great. It is a must have for anyone who shoots a lot. I can use this at the range to keep proper function and tight groups. It really cuts down on cleaning time. I know others have stated that they don't think it scrubs the bore good enough, I do agree with that after a long shooting session. But what I do is use a regular bore brush if it needs it and the boresnake as well in place of patches. The boresnake works much better than any patch I have ever used and it is reusable. It is great to have for hunting when a shot may not be taken or only a couple shots are down the barrel.For the price amazon is selling them for it is worth having around even if you do want to keep your old bore brush as well. I don't have to worry about running out of patches, having to find or cut the right patch size, or taking more than a mInute to maintain a unfired or slightly dirty firearm.
