It says, describes and shows "universal remote", BUT it has both hand remote and fan receiver! I didn't want to R/R fan rcvr/wiring, just the hand remote and It wouldn't work with or "learn" my existing Honeywell fan rcvr so I had to use ladder to R/R the 120v rcvr inside the ceiling fan/light to use it. (!!!) Get A Remote bucket so you don't drop the remote or the battery door may break free and batteries won't make proper contact Again, my original problem. I got the $6.99 3yr warranty in case the remote breaks again.

I liked it. But I do wish the top was a little thicker or wider than the bottom so I could tell if I had it right side up in the dark. I get too warm at night and turn the fan on.

UPDATE: I got batteries for the remote and it sync'd right up. However, the original remote stopped controlling the fan. After syncing the original remote again, the new remote would not control the fan. They will not both work at the same time. Since the remote actually works, I didn't give it one star, but since it won't work with another remote on my fan and since it came with dead batteries, requiring me to spend another $5 to find out I'm screwed, it gets only two stars.ORIGINAL REVIEW: At first, I thought I received a defective product. When trying to sync it with my ceiling fan, the ceiling light blinked on once and the fan came on at low speed, but then it wouldn't control the fan or the light at all. After trying several times and deciding that I should send it back, I put it aside for a couple days, then I searched the 'net to see if there were other ways to sync it. One video mentioned checking the batteries if nothing worked, so I did and - voila! The batteries from my old remote were not dead and they made it function. Simple solution, but I think a tiny product that costs almost $50 should come with fresh batteries, not dead batteries.

The remote works and comes with batteries. The only issue I had is that it is very small. Smaller than a credit card and easy to loose, which is what happened. It fell in a desk trash can and got tossed out. By the time I realized it, the trash had been pick up and had to order another remote which requires removal of the control inside the fan in order for the new remote to work.
