About this item

  • Hellwig Sway Bars tighten up body roll so you benefit from better vehicle control, greatly improved traction for safer driving and faster cornering.
  • Hellwig Sway Bars are an extremely effective handling upgrade you can make to your vehicle.
  • Hellwig sway bars offer quick bolt on installation that are engineered to perform.
  • Though most vehicles come equipped with factory installed sway bars, they are often insufficient at controlling body roll and error torwards an understeer condition.
  • Hellwig sway bars feature larger than stock diameters and precision engineered components to optimize handling and reduce body roll.

Sway bars, or more accurately anti-roll bars, are designed to resist a vehicle’s tendency to pitch from side to side during cornering, improving cornering ability and making for a more comfortable controlled ride. Sway bars are among the most cost effective and dramatic improvements that you can make to your vehicle regardless of whether it’s a truck, muscle car, tow rig, or RV. Sway bars are also typically easy to install, making them a great first upgrade for anyone who wants a little more control out of their ride.

Works good. This along with 10 ply’s and blistein shocks truck much better for working.

Installation was easy. Just follow the instructions and don’t overthink them. There is a one sentence suggestion to start on the softest setting. Even towing my 7000lb. Airstream, the soft setting is great. It makes crosswinds drivable now. When not trailering, the ride is still comfortable, stable. I’m not constantly correcting at highway speeds.

2020 F150 with Borla Attak dual exhaust. The sway bar hits the exhaust pipe over bumps or if the truck is loaded. Had to add sumo springs to reduce the axle to body travel and now they no longer hit. The bar has started rusting from where they were rubbing, this happened after its first winter. Not a string coating on the bar. Disappointing that they don't warn you that these should not be used with dual exhaust. Add sumo springs and be free from any impact and worries. I use this only at max stiffness, paird to some new rear shocks.

Quality parts and hardware, (for the most part.) Installation was a breeze with only one problem - one of the U-bolts and corresponding lock nuts would not play well together. Threading the nut onto it only succeeded in ruining the threads of both nut and bolt. Had to replace the nut and cut off damaged portion of threads. All good after that.Set to middle hole and performed test drive. Much more control and reduced body roll. Looking forward to pulling our travel trailer as this installation was performed to eliminate draft sway on the highway.

The install was fairly easy, even in -10c weather and it helps to have a second set of hands to hold the bar while you bolt it up. Takes about 2 hours in the cold.Immediate improvement of handling was found during the test drive afterwards.I'd recommend this to anyone looking to improve the overall handling of your truck (Ford F150 2015).

Wanted to share my experience with this and provide some details to the product, install and results. I have a 2016 F150 4x4, Super Crew with a 5.5 bed and 20in Factory wheels and the FX4 package. The FX4 package just seems to be lacking, I replaced the stock rear FX4 shocks with some Bilsteins after only 25K due to bouncing and them being worn out. The Shocks were a great improvement, the Hellwig bar was even greater improvement to the handling of the truck, specifically the rear end. The truck has 70k on it now. The best way to describe the ride is that it's a planted rear end now and very little body roll. On/off ramps are a lot more fun and the vehicle just feels more stable on the road. The truck doesn't feel like it's going to tip over if you take a turn fast now and it's easier to maneuver at speeds around town. More fun to drive in my opinion and the best suspension upgrade next to the rear shocks. It also now feels (tested) you can take a sharp turn and gas it enough to kick the rear end out vs before it was bouncy, upset and felt like it might roll over (maybe some exaggeration). Can you say Boe and Luke Duke maneuvers in my future :)The packaging issues I've read seem to have been fixed. The box arrived in tact and Amazon additionally put it in another box to be sure. The hellwig packaging was very secure, the box was taped and stapled shut, the bar was additionally secured inside the box with foam packing and another cardboard piece to ensure nothing was moving very much. All parts were there, it really is a straight forward install.Install was easy, although I did look up some youtube videos of Truck TV Shows that did the same upgrade and learned a little more about install and adjustment that was not on the instructions. It took me about 4.5 hrs to install, but I like to be exact and torque things proper. The torque specs were on the instructions. Some things that were not on the instructions were that a vise is very handy to press the bushings in the end links as well as the steel sleeves. Can be done by hand/hammer, but vise is nice. I learned on the videos that the grease is good also to keep it from squeaking, so although you might press everything in without it, use the supplied grease to keep everything quiet, and the torque specs/lock nuts will take care of securing the ends. Also grease the urethane bushings that go on the sway bar itself to prevent squeaking. Install needs to be on level ground with the weight of the vehicle on the tires. I did the install on level ground in the garage, no problems. Another tip not in the instructions was the adjustment of the endlinks and leveling the sway bar. I adjusted the bar level/parallel to the ground using a level (while on level ground). Quite easy if you mount everything loose like the instructions say and adjust the end links last and then tighten everything up to proper torque specs. I used the middle hole on the end of the bar and feel it's giving me the performance I'm looking for, I may try a diff setting later, but very satisfied with the improvements in driving. One note, while you can tighten the U Bolts by hand, it's better to have some type of electric/air impact, the locknuts are pretty tight. Another tip which is in the instructions is triple check the UBolts do not pinch any brake lines, it would be very easy to do. Also the pics included in the instructions helped me center the UBolts, I had questioned pushing the limit on where the bar was in relation to the axle, but the picture of one installed on a F150 helped me figure it out. As you can see from the pics, not much of this hangs below the vehicle. Very impressed with how stable the clevis mounted to the frame and how sturdy the connection is to the bar. Mounting the clevis on the passenger side, it initially looked like the end link was going to be touching the muffler, but after mounting it all up loose to adjust everything, there was plenty of room. Very well designed. BTW, if you're curious, this bar says it works up to a truck with a 2" lift and there looks like enough adjustment in the end links to support a 2" drop if you are lowering your truck. I like the fact they built some adjustability into this kit to give you options. If you were thinking about this upgrade, it's definitely and improvement to the handling of the truck. Ford puts a sway bar on the front but not on the back (prob to save $$) and this just makes the truck handle better overall. Can't wait to see how it tows my boat, never a problem before and this should help improve it. It seems to connect the rear wheels and keep the body roll minimized, which helps in turns, cornering, etc. Overall truck feels more stable and better able to react to any steering inputs compared to before. Highly recommend and this is definitely able to be installed with hand tools and no lift. Just eat your wheaties, you have a lot of lock nuts to torque down :) Hope this helps, if you've been thinking about this upgrade, think no more, it definitely an improvement to the ride and handling of the truck.

I installed this anti sway bar on a 2018 f150 extended cab 4x4 with the 36gal fuel tank. It also has a camper shell, bilstein rear shocks, and downgraded wheels from factory 20s to factory 18s. We tow up to six times a year out of state. It’s my daily driver as well.I bought the bar hoping to tighten the vehicle dynamics during more aggressive maneuvers such as making a left turn to pull out onto a 5-lane road in traffic. The truck can be a lot to handle in tight city traffic. We initially installed the bar in the middle setting. The bar was clearly present and was almost harsh during turns. It felt like it was too stiff for the vehicle’s factory tuning and stood out. It certainly had a locked in feel, but overpowered the front. This is with an empty bed, and the camper shell.I next changed it to the softest setting. In this setting it blends a bit better with the vehicle. In my opinion, they should probably do one more hole out or offer a slightly smaller bar if one is really trying to dial in to balance in with the oem chassis tuning. That said, on the softest setting it blends best with the factory dynamics and still makes a notable difference in handling. An unexpected surprise was the impacts on steering and steering feel. The wheel transmits much more road information, and sometimes it’s a bit unnerving since my brain say, “wait this is a truck but the road feel is more like sports sedan.” As good as that sounds, it reduces the “relaxed” feel of the f150. I notice this most when the pavement is twisting back and forth beneath the truck and it’s fighting the rear bar against the front. Turn-in has more authority and there’s the beginning of “on center feel” which the truck has never had. I like that.Three places to improve. First, the ground clearance could be improved a full inch and probably more if the axle saddle design was tightened up and the axle bushing mount was tightened up as well. Most truck owners cherish ground clearance, and this bar has a pretty sloppy axle mount design that takes several inches out in places. Second, while it’s not a lot, this bar does introduce new noises into what is the quietest vehicle I’ve ever owned. The “chudder” sound is born as the tire chews over cracked-pattern concrete, and a careful occupant will notice the cab is louder. A distant third- this bar seems more eager to engage than the front bar, creating the feeling that the car is being “righted” by the rear. Or maybe I’m just totally not used to it. A more progressive tuning might ease that. Both 2 & 3 might be addressable with different bushing material/sizing, namely the upper end of the drop links. They are tiny, tight little bushings which have a different character than larger compliant factory pieces. Adjustments there might dial it in a bit to work with factory tuning. All in all, a good product. It’s probably invaluable for towing but I haven’t gone there yet. I’m looking forward to being able to drive to work again soon and enjoy the new handling.

If you are looking to stiffen/improve the street handling of your F150 this is an impressive product. Body roll is greatly reduced both empty and loaded, ride quality is otherwise still comfortable on stock suspension. There is still some wheel hop on bumpy corners but it is also reduced.I installed in my driveway without lifting the truck, it made the job awkward but not impossible. I set the sway bar at the middle setting and initially thought it may have been too tight, I am used to it now but you will be amazed how much of a difference it makes to your trucks handling. Under spirited driving it performs more predictably but the biggest improvement is while loaded or pulling a trailer. If you aren't going further off pavement than a gravel road this is a no brainer.
