When my brother tried to use the CMAX as a lawn mower in the desert, he destroyed the bottom engine shield that was from the factorh. It was made out of a fabric/fiberous material and did not stand up to the desert tumble weeds and grass. I replaced it with this shield made of hard plastic and molded to factory specs, and it is still doing it job. No cracks or breaks.

I feel it's better than the original splash pan. Not fuzzy cardboard. Fit was fair but not perfect.

Very flimsy material. See the picture of the OEM shield beside this one. Holes did not align for a 2014 C Max.
