Was assembling a project with through hole components and standard PC board. The Hakko kit includes a 1.0 mm nozzle - this worked OK for components with fine leads but could not do the job with thicker leads. The 1.3 mm nozzle works great on everything. Wish I had stumbled on this earlier ...

Okay if you're a super electronic guy you may not use this size very often but for those of us who maybe have like an old radio that we want to work on maybe you from the '70s this is a perfect size The big PC boards will thank you because they're larger and have more solder the wider opening will help it heat up to remove just a little bit easier than a smaller size. Again even the professionals should consider getting this size but most definitely the hobbyist

I'm very Hakko selling the Nozzles separate, this is my 2nd nozzle that I had to buy to be able to work on my project, unlike other Desoldering makers who give you a bunch of nozzles with the product Hakko is stealing your money dollar by dollar. I'm staying away from Hakko products in the future.

I actually needed something with a larger opening like the N61-10 which has a 1.6mm opening for those large filter cap leads on stereos. This N61-06 has a 1.3mm opening which is way too small to go over the lead - which wasn't any better than the N61-08 (1.0mm) that came with the FR301. The Hakko FR-301 works great and makes quick work of removing through hole components. They should have a suggested nozzle size chart for different components e.g., ICs. wattage resistors, filter cap sizes, etc. I wish they weren't so expensive.
